“wonderful weekend stay”
Reviewed 23 April 2013

I was treated to a wonderful weekend stay here last November for my birthday having not visited Bath before. This b&b was fantastic, we stayed for two nights in the beautiful Lansdown Room. Beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. This room was large, with a great king size bed and spacious en suite bathroom. The large heated towel rail was a particular luxury. The guest lounge offered DVDs, magazines and books available to all guests.
Breakfast was delicious with a range of choices available. Diane and Glyn were extremely friendly and welcoming recommending what to see and do and their favorite places to eat. On arrival we were served tea & biscuits in the guest lounge by Diane who gave us maps of the city and highlighted walking routes into town for us, which was very helpful. The b&b was a 20 minute walk from Bath city centre but a lovely walk in through the parks. Shortly after arriving Glyn offered us a lift into town and on the way gave us a tour of scenic hot spots in the car, which was very nice. One night we ate in the local pub 'The Weston' which was lovely and only a short distance from the b&b.
Parking wasn't a problem as there was a guest car park round the back of the b&b. We will definitely stay here again next time we are in Bath. We had a truly superb stay.

Probably one of the best nights sleep I've ever had. The finish and quality of the room was outstanding. Great hosts. Good breakfast. Highly recommended. This thing wants more words... erm, slept very well as I said not sure what there is to say. Great bathroom, really nice, top finish. Has this reached the 200 character minimum yet? Let's see... bye!

We stayed at Hawkins of Bath for a 2 night break in April 2013 and we cannot recommend it enough.

Diane and Glyn, the owners, are extremely friendly, accommodating and genuine. They're excellent hosts who clearly take a lot of pride in both their guest house and the service they provide and it shows. On a previous trip to Bath a few years ago, we'd stayed at one of the chain hotels but Hawkins of Bath surpassed it on every level - especially with the outstanding customer service and personal touches that were a consistent feature of our stay.

The guest house is beautifully decorated and manages to retain a homelike feel. Our room was spacious, well decorated and clean, as were the communal areas of the guest house and the breakfast area. Similarly, the bathroom was one of the nicest we've seen in a hotel or guest house.

Breakfast was great and vegetarian friendly too.

The guest house is in a good location. The X39/339/338 buses, which run to and from the city centre, stop within a few minutes of the guest house. Otherwise, the city centre is about a half an hour walk away.

We would definitely recommend Hawkins of Bath and would certainly stay there again when visiting Bat

Room Tip: We stayed in the Bathwick room and it has an excellent bathroom.

We found this place thanks to the outstanding Tripadvisor reviews and have to say that our expectations were exceeded in every way.

Everything from the welcome to the location to the quality of our room and the tastiness of the fry-up breakfasts was just fantastic..

Prior to the trip, we had to rearrange our original dates - no problem, DIane and Glyn were flexible and hnoured the original rate they had quoted us.

Diane and Glyn were the most fantastic hosts - neither of us eat pork so they got beef sausages in for us! They gave great advice on what to do & see and where to eat.

We liked it so much that we're planning to stay here again before the end of the year.

A bug thank you to Diane and Glyn :)

Room Tip: The Bathwick Room is great - large, confortable and with an amazing bathroom.

Diane and Glyn are gracious hosts with a beautiful B&B! Family of 4 great room why would you even consider a hotel when you can have a much more personal experience! The English breakfast was fabulous so take your time to enjoy the breakfast.

You can definitely walk into town but I would suggest renting bikes or taking a cab back after a long day.

This gem of a Guest House offers very friendly and personal service. Realising we would be arriving in Bath several hours before the check-in time, we called ahead to ask if we could park in their car park before heading into Bath to do some sightseeing. We were assured that we were welcome to do so and invited to check-in early, despite our room itself not yet being available. On arrival we did just that, and were invited into a very cosy guest lounge area (fresh flowers, comfy sofas, board games, magazines, a choice of DVDs for guests to borrow and a computer for guests' use) where we were given tea, coffee and biscuits and offered a map of Bath and personal recommendations on where to eat etc. Then Glyn, the host, offered us a lift into central Bath as he "had to go shopping anyway". Not only did he give us a lift but he did a little detour to show us some of the sights en route; service well and truly above the call of duty and a lovely start to our 2 day stay.

Our room was spacious, light, and beautifully furnished and decorated with a large en-suite bathroom, both of which were spotlessly clean. Little touches like being told we were welcome to fetch wine glasses from the dining room if we wanted to enjoy a bottle of wine in our room, made it extra special.
In the evening, candles lit up the public areas adding to the atmosphere.

Breakfast was also a highlight. The fresh fruit salad was divine and the quality of ingredients in the cooked breakfast very high. Again, Diane and Glyn were the perfect hosts; friendly and chatty without being imposing.

Facilities and service at Hawkins of Bath cannot be faulted, but its location, at a good 25 minute walk into central Bath was not ideal for me, being slightly mobility challenged. However, buses do run right past the house and a taxi to/from town is only about £7, so location would not prevent me from visiting again. In fact, as visitors to this Guest House, we felt valued and important to our hosts and we are already planning a return trip, with our children next time!

Not much more to say than the previous reviews. Hosts are genuine and treat people like an extended family. Crisp and clean place with fantastic bathrooms and nothing is any trouble at all. Great coffee and breakfasts. Well done Diane and Glyn
