“Fine, a great place to stay”
Reviewed 28 September 2013

I read the good and bad reviews for Cranleigh before we booked, and I guess I'm a little puzzled by the bad reviews but can only report as we found.

For the price we paid I'm giving Cranleigh five stars.

Our superior room was much larger than any room one gets in the many corporate hotels I stay in. Yes the ensuite was small but it was not tiny and was fine. The bathroom was also clean and nicely presented.
One morning we were around late and we got to look into a lot of the other rooms. They all looked as nicely kept and presented as the one we stayed in.
The bed was comfortable, the area around Cranleigh is quite and we had two good nights sleep.

For me week day breakfast between 8am-9:30am is both either a little late/ a tight slot but the morning we left early we arranged to have cereal (and tea from our room). The breakfast was fine, there was a good choice, generous, well presented and cooked.
- Cranleigh if you are reading this, can I suggest you pick up a box of Linda McCartney vegetarian sausages and keep them in the freezer and then you could delight vegetarians like us with a full english breakfast.

Their parking is a little "tight" and would be exciting in the snow I suspect but is available and free. We parked on the street outside the hotel just fine.
Walking down to the park and ride bus to get into town is not a problem or a taxi (for dinner in town) is ~£7.50 one way.

They have a great briefing on arrival and their own little map about transport and local places to eat.

Cranleigh do want you to have a great stay, and we did.

Stayed at the Craleigh for 2 nights to explore Bath.

A warm welcome was provided with tips and pointers on where to eat, what to see and how to get there.

Room was well appointed with all the necessities, and clean and tidy.

Plenty of choice at breakfast, the English was lovely, not greasy, other choices, being scrambled eggs and salmon, pancakes (sweet and savoury),and more. All this complimented by cereals, fresh fruit and juices.

Centre of Bath was about a 30min stroll, through the park, royal crescent, circus and your there.

Would I recommend the Craleigh, well I'd definitely stay there again

Having trawled trip adviser for places to stay in Bath we found Cranleigh. We have very much enjoyed our stay and would return and recommend. Nice welcome, friendly host, very clean room and breakfast freshly cooked to order both efficient and tasty! The walk into town suited us and it really isnt that far or a strenuous walk so dont let it put you off staying here. Personally I think its reasonably priced as Bath is expensive almost rivalling London.

A very clean, well run guest house.the owners are very helpful and the rooms large and comfortable.a good ,cooked breakfast is included in the price. the house is a 5 minute bus ride/ car journey from central bath which suited us fine but may be not as central as some people require. Bath is a lovely city and it felt right staying in a Victorian style guest house rather than a modern hotel. cannot fault the stay although you do pay slightly more here than other band b's in Bath so if you are on a budget it may be best to look around.

Room Tip: the nearest pub, the Weston, does really excellent food.

I had a really great stay in this guest house. The rooms were of superior quality, with everything you could need (including some paracetamol which actually came in very handy). Mr and Mrs Potter were a delight to deal with and very helpful in all respects. I was thoroughly pleased with the breakfast - I have never been to a guest house which such wonderful choice and I have to say it was very very tasty.
The guesthouse has really great links to the main attractions. I was able to park my car in the their private car park, there was a regular public bus service and even if you choose to walk into town it is actually quite a pleasent walk which leads you to the royal crescent in under a half hour.
Five Stars!!!

The owners made us feel very welcome all through our stay. The room was huge with a 4 poster bed and the bathroom had a large shower with shampoo etc all provided. A very clean and well run b&b. Lovely breakfast with a loads to choose from that set us up for the day. Park and ride into Bath 15 minutes walk away and taxi £7 into town. Definitely would stay again and will recommend to friends.

Stayed here for 3 nights whilst our daughter was at the Special Olympics and I must say it is very difficult to fault. The "Victorian style" bit could have meant it was a bit twee but is wasn't. The welcome was great the rooms were well decorated and spotless, beds comfy with lots of nice touches like a supply of fresh milk available 24hrs, free wifi etc. The Cranleigh has been praised for its breakfasts and rightly so all freshly cooked and lots of choice all of which they were happy to customise! It is a £8 taxi ride from the town centre in a evening but very close to one of the P & R's for during the day. Were there any niggles? Well it is a bit pricy and at that price I would not expect to pay a credit card surcharge, but really it was first class.
