“Heaven in Bath”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

When you arrive at Cranleigh you get to a house that looks like nothing special, that is…. until you open the doors. The guesthouse is immaculately decorated, it’s spotlessly cleaned and everything is made to a standard that left me and my wife speechless.

We got the room at the top with a stunning view over the valley. The room was large and so clean and nice and attractive that we didn’t want to leave the room at all. There is just not a single simple thing I can put my finger on, that is less than immaculate; well maybe one single thing, getting to the parking place is a bit difficult, but this is the way it is…. it’s how the streets in city of Bath is made and so we normally ended up parking in the street outside.

Breakfast is made to order and the quality and level of service leave you with a smile from ear to ear. Coffe is a bit weak, like all coffe you get in UK, everything is is really really good...

Is Cranleigh a good place to stay? It’s so good it gets top marks with 5 gold stars and 5 diamonds from me, You would be an utter fool if you plan to go to Bath and don’t consider staying at Cranleigh…. From the top of my head at the moment there’s only one place I ever been that I remember as considerably better than Cranleigh, and that would be Constance le Prince Mauritius, and that’s a 6 star hotel…. Cranleigh deserve all the stars and rewards it can possibly get.

If you go to Bath, book a room at Cranleigh, you won’t regret it :-)

I had a great time at Cranleigh. I had a single room ensuite which was very nicely furnished and comfortable. Tim was incredibly nice and helpful. He carried my large bag up to the second floor and provided great tips about what to see and do. The guest house is a bit far from the railway station and the city center but they compensate for this by providing a free shuttle to and from the railway station as well as another location in the city center. Tim also explained how to get the bus back from town to the guest house. Breakfast was delicious!

We enjoyed a very pleasant stay at Cranleigh for a weekend getaway to Bath from London. I'll try to focus on the salient details that are relevant for selecting accommodations:

- Comfortable, clean, well-appointed room with a beautiful view of the surrounding scenery and a private en-suite bathroom
- Tasty, varied hot breakfast prepared to order by the owners who provide attentive service
- Very quiet neighborhood allowed for a high quality night's rest
- Good value for money - there are more expensive options in Bath, but I see no reason to spring for them
- Location is 1-2 miles out of town and could be considered walking distance for the ambitious, but is very accessible via free daily shuttle buses or if you came by car
- The quiet street offers easy parking at all hours of the day and we never struggled to find a spot
- Welcoming, easily accessible hosts who are very flexible to accommodate specific needs such as late arrival, luggage storage, dietary needs, etc.

In short, if you want to spend time in Bath, you will not be disappointed if you book Cranleigh. For those who don't wish to research all the available accommodation options and who enjoy a comfort and quiet, just go ahead and book this one as it will check all the boxes.

Had a lovely stay at this B & B. Stayed in a family room with our 16 year old daughter. Plenty of room, nicely decorated, large spacious bathroom with separate bath and shower. Although it was extremely hot weather during our stay, we were able to keep the room cool - large windows let in lots of air. Nice touches included the essentials box in the room. I was able to make use of the sewing kit. Also iron and ironing board in room. Honesty bar extremely reasonable. Glad we chose this rather than one of the city centre hotels. Will stay again next time we are in Bath

Positive notes for this B&B, comfortable bed and excellent freshly cooked breakfast.
Negative notes, dark and very dull bedroom, hot and stuffy, not helped by the thick drapes on the four poster. Need to supply a fan Parking not good. Very narrow approach road to the parking area.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback regarding your recent stay with us. We are pleased you have enjoyed the hospitality, comfortable beds and varied breakfast menu we provide. Obviously we are disappointed that the room was not to your taste.

Cranleigh is a Victorian period home located in the Bath conservation area. As we advertise our guest rooms are all individually styled to complement the Victorian features of the building. The room you stayed in has a hand carved dark, oak four poster bed which is dressed with a regal blue fabric to complement this. This room also has very 2 large sliding sash windows which extend to the full height of the ceiling which also open to provide ventilation.

We appreciate that your stay was during very warm and humid conditions we have ensure all our room have fans and would like to encourage our guests to ask us or a member of staff if they are unsure about any of the features at Cranleigh.

Finally I would like to reiterate your comments regarding our car park, as we stat on our website and other communications. We do have a small car park but the entrance is very narrow and sloped, turning around is not always possible so you may be required to reverse back up the driveway onto the road. Free and unrestricted parking on Newbridge Hill is available as an alternative.

My family and I (2 adults, 2 teens) stayed here for 3 nights in the family suite. The room was spacious and charming. The bathroom had a LARGE soaking tub, plus a shower stall. The room had a king bed and 2 twins, plus plenty of room to move around and for luggage. The room was on the second floor (room 5, I believe) and had a nice view of the quiet, residential neighborhood. The breakfast room was small, but lovely, and the food was delicious. The owners were very friendly and even drove us to town and the train station in their personal car! They made good recommendations for restaurants (we particularly enjoyed The Weston and Hare & Hounds). We highly recommend this charming Victorian B & B!!
