“Excellent choice while staying in Bath. Could have stayed here a week!”

What a beautiful B&B! This was my favorite room we had on our entire 1 month European trip.

The hotel is very quaint and nicely decorated. We arrived and settled into our room to Mozart music from the CD player and hot tea! The room is very romantic and spacious with a large bathroom. We had a corner room with great views over the polo field towards the main part of town. We were lucky to find this place after making a last minute change to our plans a few weeks before flying to Europe. The double room was priced competitively with other hotels and B&Bs in the area. Breakfast was a perfect and filling full English. More then enough to hold you over for most of the day.

We were in town to go on a Cotswalds tour, the next morning and the Ayrlington was perfectly located within walking distance of the train station and main plaza. Although it is on the other side of the river from all the tourists sights and restaurants, it was nice to be able to walk across the bridges and view all the wonderful scenery on the way back to the B&B.

Unfortunately all the stores close in Bath at 5pm so it gets quite dull at night. We just grabbed takeout and headed back to the room to relax after doing the Mayor's walking tour of bath and having tramped up and down London for the previous 3 days.

We had a great although short one night stay. don't pay attention to the complaints about the Ayrlington. No it is not a 5 star hotel like some people seem to think. How could it be when there is no pool, restaurant or spa? What it is is a very beautiful quaint B&B. I could easily have enjoyed many more nights here! Too bad we just didn't have enough time in our schedule.

Yet again we have had a very comfortable and welcoming stay at The Ayrlington hotel. This hotel is ideally situated for the sights shops and restaurants in the city. The rooms are comfortable and very warm and the on site parking a great bonus when visiting Bath. There is always a warm welcome and the staff are helpful. A great place to stay.

The welcome at reception was first class as was the bar service in the early evening. The named bedroom (not numbered) proved to be rather narrow, with little room to hang clothes in the cupboard because of the ironing board, but the beds were very comfortable. It overlooked a playing field area behind the garden with the rugby ground in the distance. Quite central, it took us 15 minutes to walk into town. Guests should not even think of taking a car as it took us 45 minutes to return and it's less than a mile away (traffic was horrendous). At breakfast the dining room was too small to accommodate residents with no chance of a table for four at 9 am. My overall impression of the guesthouse, generously awarded 5 stars, was being in a time warp. Furnishings and fittings belonged to a few decades ago and the place needs an urgent refit.

Room Tip: The more you pay the better the room. Standard room was disappointing.

Stayed here for one night wile in Bath, booked late so were happy to be able to book a 'superior' room and we were hoping for a romantic place to stay overnight, this is not the place for that.

First and foremost this is a guest house, albeit a nice one.

The place is a large 'traditional house' turned into a guest house, it could be a hotel, but its not set up that way. The condition of the place is fair, nothing you would complain about, but it is past the halfway point of needing refurbishment.

Potentially it could be fabulous, but as it is it is just OK. Our room was more modern than the public area's (which are very traditional) but it could not be described as new or even recently refurbished.

Staff are all friendly and overall the stay was OK, just be aware that the various 5 star ratings shown are not comparable to a 5 star hotel.

Central bath is very close, so if that's the main reason for your stay, it can be recommended, just don't expect any real luxury.

This was our fourth stay at this hotel and we were not disappointed.

This time we were allocated the Bamboo room which is a little unusual as it has views over the rear, side and front of the hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. There was plenty of drawer space and hangers in the wardrobe. Provided in the room is an iron, ironing board, safe, tv and music player, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities, complimentary bottled water and biscuits, nice towels and flannels and complimentary toiletries.

The breakfast is very good. There is a choice of cereals, yogurts and a fresh fruit salad. A full English breakfast is offered along with a vegetarian option. Toast and pasties are also offered along with a choice of teas and coffee.

The hotel is nicely situated for the city centre (about a 10 minute walk to the Abbey) and there is sufficient parking.

The only downside to the hotel is that there is no lift so if you have difficulty with stairs this could be a problem.

We will definitely stay here again when we next visit Bath.

We booked the Ayrlington on recommendation, but sadly felt it didn't live up to expectations.

On the plus side, it's in a great location with free parking (though there are only 14 parking spaces for 16 rooms and it is VERY tight!), the bed was very comfortable, the receptionists were very friendly and helpful and I liked the cats! (Though maybe not good a good choice of place to stay if you are allergic). Breakfast was okay, nothing special, though we felt it a bit rushed and weren't offered more tea or toast, which is usually the norm in B&Bs and hotels.

On the downside, we had some issues with room cleanliness and had to ask for a re-clean of the bathroom on arrival as there were longs hairs and dust on the surfaces and an empty loo roll on the sink (which I just tossed into the bin). We asked for no cleaning service on the 1st day but on coming back on the 2nd, found the rubbish bag removed from the bedroom bin just left on the dressing table. The room itself was nice and large and adequately furnished but I'm not sure it was worth the £350 we paid for 3 nights. We were in 'Poppy' which is at the top of the building and at the front and as the room was hot, we kept the windows open at night. Just as well we can sleep through traffic noise as it was relentless!

It didn't spoil our three days in Bath and we will definitely be back as we love the city, but next time we won't be staying at the Ayrlington.

Room Tip: Front rooms can be very noisy because of the traffic.

This is a great place to park your car, forget it and enjoy all that Bath has to offer. We really enjoyed our stay here which was comfortable, clean, and so well positioned to walk into the centre of Bath (about 10 minutes to the Abbey). The room (Emperor) was sizeable, with a four poster bed and views over the garden towards the City and so was quite remarkably quiet and very little, if any, light pollution at night. The staff were friendly and accommodating and found time to have a chat and impart information if asked. For a complete picture of the Ayrlington some of the decor could be in need of refreshing, but this is a very minor negative comment in comparison with the overall comfort, position, breakfast (very good) and the positive attitude of the staff. Would we return..oh yes!

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking the garden and found it very quiet
