“Good location, cheap price, dorm style housing”

We were not looking for deluxe. We were looking for cheap and for location, because it is hard to find availability in September around Bath. We were not disappointed. It was cleaner than we had hoped for. The bathroom is shared and some of our party slept on the top bunks, but the Roman baths were an easy walk.

Positives: Great central location at a great price. Bathroom and showers were clean and the majority of the front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. (The man who checked me in was a tad on the grumpy side, as he made it known that I was asking too many questions.) Basic breakfast in the morning was included in the price.

Negatives: Extremely noisy at night - make sure you have earplugs. Also, it would have been nice to have a kitchen area to cook meals in (in only had a microwave).

All in all, it was a good, safe experience.

We got here half past 9 pm on a Saturday night when Bath city was completely fully booked everywhere. This was the last solution we could find. Price for one night £ 23 pp was not too bad. We came in a room for 12 (!!!) people. Lucky us just one bed was occupied! Don't wanna imagine on a Saturday night if every bed would be full. Shared bathrooms with shower. We had a loud night because if the windows (no double glass) and it got cold. Room and bathroom was clean and fresh bed sheets on arrival-very good!

The hostel is in a perfect location and close to all important sites/amenities.
The rooms and bathrooms are surprisingly clean, which was a nice surprise. The big plus point is that breakfast comes free, and I think there was a good variety of food available. The slight downside to the experience was that the beds were a bit uncomfortable (I could feel the bed springs). Other than that that, highly recommend!

The twin room is very comfortable. Very neat. I never thought that I would a place like this called a hostel. The only problem is that the Wifi signal didn't reach the room, but that wasn't a problem at all. Very good value. But bring earplugs: Bath at night has a lot of drunk people yealling, and the windows can't block the sound coming from outside, even though this is not a fault.

There's also a gym and the hostel's customers have a great discount on classes.

Room Tip: Twin rooms: 124. But bring earplugs, for the reason said above.

We stayed for 3 nights and overall were quite happy with our stay. The staff was friendly and helpful though we arrived without having booked in advance... We got two beds in a 8 bed dorm. It was okay for the price, though a bit crowded - the room would have been better with only 6 beds I think. The window didn't shelter us from the noise of the street and sometimes it could become annoying, especially when the alarm of the shop opposite went off without apparent reason. But then for 20£ a night with breakfast, and wifi in the commons, that's a good deal. The beds were clean, and we slept well. I would just deplore the lack of sockets, only two of them for eight people, both in the same place behind a bed...
The bathroom was clean and the showers convenient compared to others I've seen in that kind of hostels.
Also has a little place outside, with tables for picnic if you don't fear the pigeons.
Near the center of Bath, it was also a perfect place, though a bit far from the station.

I stayed here for two nights in February 2013 - one night there were 6 of us in a room for four and two single rooms, the second night there were 16 of us in an 18 bed dorm. Both were great! The four bed room was clean, had two bunks, a wardrobe, sink with cups and just about enough space to navigate - all that you need if you are not planning to stay in for the night. The single rooms were a similar size to the four bed room and again had all that was needed (inlcluding a desk!). Shower facilities adequate for a hostel but could have done with having a few more of them and a more reliable heating system - hot and cold was tricky but the showers at Bath spa made up for that.

The 18 bed dorm was brilliant! I was here for my hen do and to have everyone in one place was such a good idea, there was enough floor space for us all to get ready so long as you don't mind getting a little close. Individual lamps, plug sockets and curtains on the beds were a great touch. The staff were very helpful in letting us move from the four bed/singles into the 18 bed early and were friendly throughout our time here.

Breakfast was simple, choice of toast, cereals, fruit etc. the paid extra full english was a great hang over cure.

The YMCA is in a good location and is a great base if you are there to explore the city rather than wanting to spend time in a hotel. Walking distance to everywhere and tucked a little out of the way so quiet at night.

If in Bath the spa is a must visit, we went early on the Saturday morning and there were approx 150 people there, rather than the 300 people you are surrounded by on the twilight package so if you're not opposed to early starts this is an idea. The hostel has a gym which looked good, but we did not use it!

Would happily come back here.
