Really good location, right in the centre of town. Stayed in a 12 dorm room and there was plenty of space, they provide lockers that you can store your stuff in (and if you don't have your own lock you can get one from reception by putting down a 10 pound deposit). Very clean. Downside was that my room (dorm 5) was facing out onto a street that was perpetually loud. And I mean at all times of the day you'd hear people screaming and yelling, being drunk (even on a wednesday night). It's not unbearable. And for the price you'd be mad to pass it up.

This is a good hostel in the centre of Bath. It is easy to get to and it is easy to navigate Bath from there. The reception staff are friendly and are there to assist in 24 hours. There purified water available in the dinning room 24 hours a day. We booked a private room which was comfortable and clean with a lot of storage space for our things. The room comes with a sink and a faux leather chair. There were two small soaps and cups on te sink. The beds made for a comfortable sleep.

As part of our room rate breakfast was included, it was good to start the day of a full stomach. Only cold breakfast was free. A full English is £3.50 and the Double English was £6.50. Tea and Coffee is £1.50.

The toilet and showers were clean whenever I used them. There was enough hot water for all my showers.

I stayed in a small single room so cannot comment on the dorms. The room was clean and good enough for a weekend stay - a single bed (they gave me bed linen/towel free of charge upon arrival), a sink and a wardrobe. Plug socket in the room. The window let lots of light in; not double-glazed so there was a lot of noise from outside at night - but to be expected in any city. The shared male/female bathroom was clean but a bit messy at times (shared with 2-3 dorms). There is free wi-fi downstairs and a nice lounge bit with a tv. A great breakfast of cereal/toast/fruit/coffee is included in the price.

The room was generally clean and comfy. The bed was comfy and there was enough room for suitcase etc. It did get a bit noisy after 11pm and there is only one bathroom for the whole floor. I would recommend it for doing Bath on a budget!

This was my strategy for walking the Cotswold Way: I made my way to Bath, stayed at the Bath YMCA, left my big roller bag with them (no charge since I was returning), took trains and buses to Chipping Campden, walked back to Bath (see my Cotswold Way review), and stayed another two nights there recovering and exploring this great city's historical sites and pubs. The Bath YMCA is one of the better hostels I've stay in - well organized, clean, friendly, with polite staff. At the time (May-June 2013) the rate for a private single room was £32 for Sunday-Thursday and £36 for Friday-Saturday. This includes a basic breakfast of cereal, toast, coffee, and juice. There can be a lot of activity when there are groups of young people staying and/or taking classes. One nice feature is that he dorm rooms are on the opposite end of the facility from the private rooms, separated by a stairwell and hallway doors. Shared bathrooms were spotless. There is a laundry facility with just a couple of machines, so there is quite a queue. Also, two desktop computers in the lobby provide free Internet access. The management was helpful with tips and directions for travelers. Overall, I enjoyed my stay, and I recommend the Bath YMCA for basic, inexpensive accommodation in an expensive city. Make reservations well in advance. Keep asking for directions as you make your way from the train/bus station (10-15 minute walk) as the hostel is a somewhat hidden (you'll see what I mean).

Room Tip: The private rooms in the back of the building get a little noise from the sports facilities. The pri...

It was wonderful staying at this hostel! The rooms were very spacious which is perfect for a 12 bed dorm. They provide lockers for your belongings which you can secure free of charge using your own lock which was great. The shower was decent enough and everywhere including the bathroom was really clean. I enjoyed that they had a large room with tables to eat at however, they often have large groups of people including schools stay here so if you don't like children be prepared. They caused no problems though at all!! The included breakfast was fantastic. Simple cereals, toasts, spreads, juices, teas and coffees but well enough to give you a full stomach! They had microwaves for use but no other kitchen facilities which sucked a little bit but other than that I really enjoyed my stay here. Oh, the bedrooms also had a powerpoint for each bed, usb connection and light. Met some wonderful people in our room and the staff were very friendly and helpful! Think twice though if you are travelling to bath by car as parking is a nightmare!!

We used Bath YMCA for our U12's rugby tour to attend the Bath RFC tournament. The stay in the YMCA was very reasonable cost, £36 at a weekend for a single. Much cheaper if you have a group n the dorms. The breakfast was fine, full English for little extra cost and the room was fine. The bed was very comfortable, the room was quiet, sunny and had all the essentials.
