“Fantastic honeymoon venue”
Reviewed 5 September 2013

I booked this hotel as a surprise honeymoon destination for my wife. We'd missed out on the honeymoon suite but the staff made every effort to ensure our room was just as good. There were champagne, strawberries, roses and a personal note left on our bed when we arrived. The staff were incredibly enthusiastic about Bath and making our stay great. The house itself is beautiful with a nice garden. Breakfast was always good with daily specials accompanying the standards. I heartily recommend Apsley House.

My husband and I stayed at Apsley house for 2 nights with our 7 month old daughter, for our first family weekend away. We had a fantastic time. We stayed in the Garden suite, which is perfect for anyone with a baby as there is a separate dressing room area where the little ones can sleep.

Location is fine, a little way out of Bath (30 min walk with a pram!) but a nice walk through the park and downhill! Lots of lovely gastro pubs a 10/15 minute walk away, so no need to drive at all.

Breakfasts were wonderful and Gillie and Raphael couldn't be better hosts. Warm, welcoming, friendly and thoughtful.

We would go back for sure!

What a wonderful experience! The house is beautiful, the staff is simply outstanding, the room is clean, the breakfast was good, and Bath is a very special place, so the combination can't be beat! The House lives up to everything you read here. If you go to Bath you'll love staying here!

We booked here on the back of all of the positive feedback on Tripadvisor on a last minute thought trip. The building has a lot of character and is very well maintained. The staff are not only very friendly but also very helpful. we stayed in the Peninsular room on the top floor, and everything was well maintaned and clean. It was a very comfortable stay with the room well furnished (top floor has good views onto the countryside). The breakfast set up is really good offering a great selection and cooked to order which means you dont get those rubber eggs you get at most chain hotels. Its worth bearing in mind that it is a 20 min walk into the city centre, but cutting through the park makes it an enjoyable walk. We would definelty stay again, although I would be tempted to stay in one of the garden facing rooms next time.

Room Tip: Choose a garden facing room as they are quieter and have better views

After reading the positive reviews on Tripadvisor, we decided to stay here on the first stop of our 'mini moon' and it was an amazing experience. Our room was the Wellington which was fantastic. The bed was comfy and luxurious and really every element of the room followed suit. From the welcome, to the special treats and the breakfast, everything really was perfect. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Bath. The only slight disadvantage is being about 20 mins walk from the city, we walked the route many times as we enjoy walking and taking in the sites however if this wasn't your thing then you could use the frequent bus services or a taxi.

Room Tip: The Wellington is one of the biggest and with a fabulous bed and bathroom. You are at the back if t...

Very nice hotel. We stayed in the "Salamanca" room on the top floor.

Hotel is about 20 minutes from the town centre so might be worth a taxi back in the evening. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Breakfast was very good and later than usual checkout time of 11 was appreciated.

We booked here following all of the positive feedback on Tripadvisor and our trip was absolutely fantastic. From the character of the building as you arrive - with free parking - to the warm and inviting welcome, to the well furnished bedrooms (we stayed on the top floor with great views onto the countryside), to the hearty breakfasts. A formal property with but a lovely, professional and informal service by all of the attentive staff. Even though it is a 20-30 minute walk into the city - so note if you are walking - the walk through the local park each day really made the trip even more enjoyable. Would easily recommend!!
