“Lovely weekend”
Reviewed 16 January 2014

We stayed for 2 nights and could not have been happier!!. Very welcoming staff, spotless rooms, and wonderful breakfast. We walked both days into Bath and got taxis back in the evening. We had gone for a my husbands birthday and had a fantastic weekend. Will definitely return one day!

My fiance and I stayed for one night in the Romantic room during a short getaway to Bath last week. The hotel is truly lovely and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Although we arrived early, intending to just check that we could leave the car before walking into Bath, we were able to settle into our room right away since it was already made up. Our room was delightful- lovely antique furniture, a huge and seriously comfy four-poster bed and a luxurious bathroom with freestanding bath and a separate large shower.

My fiance forgot his adaptor for his US laptop charger so I asked the lady manager if they by any chance had an adaptor- she had an entire drawer of them- super helpful! We definitely got the feeling that the staff really want to make your stay enjoyable and will really try to help you out if you ask for something.

The manager, Raphael, showed us a map and explained that there were two routes to walk into the city. He was very helpful, pointing out good restaurant options and places we might like to see. There is also a fob attached to your room key which will get you discounts or little extras (for example a free glass of wine) at various restaurants and attractions. It's worth looking at the corresponding leaflet to see what's on offer!

Granted the hotel is not in the city centre but a quick look at google maps before we booked showed us that anyway and I certainly don't think the hotel pretends to be in the centre! We walked into the city via the Marlborough Tavern (nice lunch spot) and Royal Crescent- it is a perfectly pleasant route, and there is always the bus or taxi option (we used a cab to get back up the hill and in the evening!). I understand that parking in the centre of Bath is not ideal or particularly easy.

The downstairs lounge area of the hotel is a bright, sunny (on this particular day!) and cosy room with an honesty bar (we didn't use it but a great idea), newspapers and a piano. We thought the breakfast was excellent (smoked salmon and scrabbled eggs highly recommended!) and although not applicable to us, I did notice on the breakfast menu that the hotel is keen to accommodate those with food intolerances etc.

From our experience, Apsley House is honestly a great choice for a short break to Bath and I was only sorry we weren't staying longer.

Room Tip: The rooms on the first floor (we peeked into the two others which were unoccupied and the doors open...

We stayed for one night at this lovely B&B. Warm welcome from the girl on reception. We stayed in room 1 which is a very large and beautifully decorated room, with the largest bed I have slept in. We had a comfortable and quiet nights sleep. We got a taxi into town as it's about a mile out. Had a lovely breakfast. Would recommend if you don't mind travelling in to Bath.

Room Tip: Room 1 was amazing!

As per the title of my review this is a top class B&B, not the Four the seasons or Savoy, but very good at being what it says it is.

Gilly & Raphael we're both very welcoming and helpful in assisting my wife & I during our one night stay.

Being an old Georgian home you can expect a touch of history, but its also quite comfortable with most of the mod-cons you'd expect at a good hotel.

We stayed in a lovely little room which was called Vitoria, coupled with this room is a lovely en suite bathroom. I've attached some photos to my review.

Would totally recommend this place to any friends, family or fellow tripadvisors :-)

though please note if you don't like climbing too many stairs, avoid this room as its on the second floor

Room Tip: Vitoria was a small room as you'll see from my photos, but the en-suite bathroom is lovely. Its...

My Partner and I stayed at Apsley House for a night on Sunday this January and were able to get a superb rate for our room.

The Hotel itself is a lovely building and we were very impressed as we arrived. The car park is spacious and parking wasn't a problem. We had to call ahead due to unforeseen circumstances to let the hotel know we would not be arriving by their last check in time and they assured is this would not be a problem and upon arrival, the lady at reception was very helpful in settling us in and giving us an idea of how to get around Bath and find food, etc.

We stayed in the Garden Suite which is located below the Ground Floor. The room was very nicely furnished and we were quite impressed with some of the furnishing. The bed was a good size and we both slept well.

Breakfast is served in a light room with a good view over the garden and again, we were happy with the breakfast, which was able to accommodate to all our needs.

The only issues we had with our stay arose from a few minor details. The Garden Suite has two very short doorways in to the bathroom and bedroom and as a tall person, I spent a lot of my time ducking. The pictures and information available on the website don't seem to acknowledge this feature and if we had known, it is likely we would have picked a different room. We also had two technical problems where our phone started to crackle inexplicably in the night and the TV started to flash on and off at what point too. The garden door had also been left unlocked by the last guest (or member of staff) to use it and not been locked again which concerned us slightly once we'd realised the next day.

Overall though, we had a superb stay at Apsley House and if we are ever in the region again, I'm sure we would look to stay here again.

My girlfriend and I stayed here the week before Christmas. The room I booked looked exactly as it did on the website, it was stunning. We unfortunately had some electrical issues with the room during our stay, but the staff couldn't do enough for us, moved us to another room without issue even bought us a couple of drinks in the evening to say sorry. Didn't effect our stay one bit...in fact it really showed how much the staff care about your stay here. Beautiful building and so close to bath too. Highly recommend

My Husband and I stayed at Apsley House for 2 nights this weekend. It is a beautiful house, well decorated and furnished and very clean. We stayed in the Copenhagen Room which was very comfortable, maintained to a high standard and located downstairs which was very peaceful. The amenities in the room were of a good specification, particularly the bathroom and the beautiful bath..very relaxing...and deep! The breakfast is the best we have had and the choice is fantastic, fresh fruit, cereals, yoghurt etc and the cooked breakfast and the daily special breakfast are especially tasty and superbly prepared. All the staff including the waitresses and chambermaids are very friendly...would definitely recommend if u want a bit of luxury and to feel spoiled!
