“Beautiful hotel, a credit to it's owners”

This hotel is beautifully decorated, comfortable and stylish, the breakfast was great too. Only one word of warning, if you like a lie in or go to bed early avoid room 12 (with four poster on ground floor) as it's right next to reception and not particularly private. I would definitely stay again though, as it's a lovely place just outside Bath town centre (approx 30 min walk).

Thanks trip advisor contributors, we booked Apsley House because of your recommendations and how right you were. The place is great, beautiful house and great service. We stayed in the "Romantic Room" said to have been that of the Mistress of Wellington. From the huge four posted bed you have views of the countryside beyond which certainly does give a romantic feel.

So many good things have already been said so I'll just add a few little points that make the service stand out here such as not bombarding you about your breakfast order as soon as you sit down - just offering tea or coffee and then taking your cooked order later so that the food arrives fresh from the pan at exacty the right moment; and housekeeping that respects the guests eg I always move hotel clutter to suit how I want to stay in the room, the Apsley house is the only place I have ever stayed where housekeeping doesn't put it back each day.

It must be said though that Apsley House is a bit far from the city centre, we were happy to walk the distance (about 30 minutes really) but the first part of the route is dull (after that you can go through a park). There are buses running along most or part of the trip depending on which one you catch and a taxi is about £6. As long as you are prepared for that, then stay here !

Chose this hotel because of the good reviews here and we were not disappointed.

The service was excellent and the place charming.

I travelled with my partner and our 4 month old daughter. Although we were in one of the smaller bedrooms (champagne room) even with our travel cot erected, there was still plenty of room. The rooms were beautifully decorated and spotlessy clean.

Having a young baby we did not eat out on an evening, but the hotel helpfully provided us with a huge file of local takeaway leaflets and plates/cutlery so that we could enjoy this in our room.

The breakfast was delicious, and again service impeccable.

Nothing is too much trouble for the owners/staff here and you will not be disappointed.

We stayed here for our wedding anniversary for two nights. We were due to arrive at 2.30pm but popped into the hotel to see if we could leave our bags there and go into Bath for lunch. Our room was already clean and ready for us at midday. We had the room with the roll top bath in the basement (and a 4 poster) which was lovely, and the access via the garden is really nice. We sat outside in the afternoon and had a glass of wine, the garden is well kept and a lovely view of the surrounding countryside. The location of the hotel is about 20-30 mins walk from the centre of Bath but if youre fine with walking, then this isnt a problem. There is a bit of hill on the way back but not steep by any means and you can work off lunch!
Breakfast was very tasty with lots of options, smoked salmon, full English, fresh fruit and juices, etc.
We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to family and friends, if there is anything youre unhappy with during your stay, then speak to the owners, they are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble, it will give them a fair chance to make amends, rather than giving an unfair opinion of their hardwork.

My wife and I stayed here over the long weekend and found it to be excellent. The south african manager and manageress were outstanding. They went to the nth degree to find us restaurants when most were closed on the bank holiday monday and we were not diassappointed by their recommendations. They were attentive and omnipresent when needed! The rooms are furnished to the highest standard and are modern but elegant, in keeping with the house. The only downside is the 30 minute walk to the centre or £8 taxi ride but this kept us fit! I would recommend this guest house without any hesitation.

We were certainly not let down by Trip Advisor. This a superbly run guest house. Welcoming, tasteful furnishing, enormously friendly and very comfortable.
