We booked the Apsley House Hotel as it was number one on Tripadvisor in the city of Bath. We made a good choice, we found this hotel very comfy, service was good and personal, breakfast was great, love the idea of a honesty bar and we were delighted for being greeted in the morning by the lovely hotel dog.
Aplsey house is a beautiful old villa with great views and lots of parking at the front and is about 20 minutes walk from the city centre.

We have Just returned from a very enjoyable and relaxing weekend (a birthday treat for my wife) staying at the Apsley House Hotel.
The excellent service was a constant theme throughout the weekend and started with a very warm welcome from Anel who showed us to our 2nd floor room (No 4 - spacious, well-appointed, modern bathroom and very comfortable king-sized bed) which had views across the valley.
Anel and Duncan helped to make the weekend special - always friendly, helpful and attentive without that stuffiness or pomposity that can be encountered in certain hotels.
Duncan was a mine of useful information.
The hotel is a distance from the centre of town (nearly 2 miles to the Abbey) but it's a pleasant walk (unless it's raining) especially once you follow Anel and Duncan's directions and climb up through Victoria Park. During the day the buses are frequent but the taxi fare is not much more if there are two or more people. (Ask the hotel to book any taxis into town - they're cheaper.)
Breakfast was excellent - good choice and cooked to order.
The whole place has a certain charm and elegance and relaxed feel that you rarely find.
We felt like we were staying with friends in a lovely country house.
Highly recommended.

We found this hotel after doing a lot of searching on the internet. It lives up to its reputation and we could not complain about anything. We stayed in a basement room which has recently been refurbished and it was beautiful. The hosts could not have been more helpful or friendly. It is well worth a visit and hopefully we will get the opportunity to go back.

Almost don't want to share this hotel with anyone else as it might be full next time I want to go. Stayed in Room 9, basement deluxe room with french door access from the room out into garden, lovely in the sun for a cup of tea or G & T. EVERY single amenity in ensuite room with large four poster bed, made use of the china tea service in room and molton and brown products sprinkled liberally throughout. Staff attentive and the breakfast choice and quality were outstanding, at long last, napkins, curls of butter and cooked to order breakfast, a rarity these days. We had the full english and salmon and poached eggs, both best had in a long time. Price paid was great value as we took advantage of one of the offers on the hotel website. It is slightly out of the city centre but the free parking and easy access to taxis/public transport more than make up for this. Great stay and compared to the many other bath hotels we've stayed in will definitely be going back to this one.

I booked a couple of days away as a suprise for my girlfriend and I.
when we arrived i was pleased with the outside of the building, impressed that the manager new our names and amazed with the room.
we stayed in the four poster garden suite which was beautiful, the four poster bed was massive !. The 150 year old bath was so deep i had to stretch to reach the end !.
The breakfast matched the rest of the hotel and was really good, i would go again just for the scrambled egg!.
All in all , Bath is an amazing city with great food and culture which was made even better by the warm and welcoming staff plus great hotel of Apsley House Bath.

We booked four double rooms to celebrate a special birthday for my husband (used his bus-pass to get into Bath!) and at lunchtime on our arrival day the other three couples who were travelling from around England were scuppered by the foul weather. We decided to stay anyway, despite living locally, and had the time of our lives. Duncan showed us to our room and, although we had lost them the equivalent of 6 room nights' business, there was a bottle of very good champagne with a lovely birthday message to my husband. Our room was immaculate and the bathroom to die for! Touches like the latest issues of high-quality magazines in the room and Molton Brown toiletries were a lovely touch. The breakfast menu was extensive and the food lived up to its promise. I can heartily recommend the porridge with "a hint of whisky"! Would we come back? We have already booked the four rooms when we hope the weather will be kinder. Thanks a million to Duncan and Anele for making what looked like a washout weekend a truly wonderful one.
