“Fantastic!”
Reviewed 18 July 2014 via mobile

A great walk up from Bath. If you have the time then walk up to the entrance and walk down through the park. It's a steep climb up though so not for the faint hearted! It was a cloudy day when we went which meant that there was almost nobody else there and the views are spectacular.

“A must see in Bath !”
Reviewed 17 July 2014

Prior Park is a hidden gem - I can't believe i've lived local and never visited before. Great for a Sunday stroll, sunny evening picnic or just to sit on the slopes with strawberries. There is a little hut to get a cup of tea (and cake!) if you want it, and you can burn it off walking back up the hill ! A very scenic place well worth the visit.

“Beautiful Space”
Reviewed 17 July 2014

The beautiful mansion atop Prior Park can be seen on the hilltop above Bath. It's a pleasant 1 mile walk from the centre of town up to the entrance of the park. The entrance is pretty much the highest point you have to climb and it's downhill from there. You can take a No 2 bus from the town centre but the walk is very pleasant. My visit was on a beautiful summers day and during the week so no crowds at all. Although there are no flower gardens, the grounds are well kept and offer a beautiful green, tranquil and stunning place to spend at least a few hours, if not all day. It costs about 6pounds to get in but you can take a picnic lunch and spread a rug on any part of the park. There are shady trees at the top just under the historic buildings, a summer house on the walk down and the magnificent Palladian bridge which offers a perfect picture opportunity. There were ducks and ducklings in the pond at the bottom and swans as well. There are toilet facilities and a tea garden selling refreshments, but you can take your own. There were no bugs or insects to spoil taking in the wonderful views of the town centre from the grassy slopes of the park. An exit is just behind the toilet facilities and the walk back down into Bath takes you past the ancient Thomas Beckett church and graveyard along Church Lane. A must-see in good weather with a picnic and good book.
