Dreadful place. The location is really good but that's it folks. Very run down, curtains hanging off rails, holes in walls walls all marked and threadbare carpet. Staff slovenly and not interested. Although there is a restaurant offered for breakfast it's cereal and nothing more. Even staff don't recommend it.
The bedding was clean as well as the bath towels although bathroom was under par.

We came to this hotel as a group of girls for one night, we knew it wouldn't be great but didn't think it would be that bad. There was no electricity when we got there, not the hotels fault but still not great.
It's dated, broken, (literally everything in the hotel is broken or wonky) very tired and very smelly. There was no breakfast in January and February?? The guy in reception was rude and unprofessional he was wandering around reception swearing to himself! Only good thing to say was location is great and it was cheap! stay here with caution, it is as bad as people say!!

Having read the reviews of previous travellers I was apprehensive about our 1 night stay at this hotel, this was part of my wife's birthday treat along with the panto and meal.
The fact that it was in a good location and had car parking let 'my heart rule my head' in ignoring the previous reviews and making the booking. The receptionist was also helpful and friendly, end of the good points.
I can confirm that the room was small despite having a four poster (wedged up), a mismatch of bedroom furniture 'set' all at different angles, tepid water for shower or bath, creeky floorboards and uncomfortable bed decor generally poor and a musty snmell thoughout the hotel.
I was advised that there was no breakfast available January and February and no draught beers at the bar.

The owners need to decide if they are happy to keep getting negative reviews or allow
someone else to take over this hotel and spend the money to turn this hotel into a good business opportunity (as previously stated in a previous review).
We will not being staying here again unless there is a major refurbishment!

Thank god was only staying for one night, the bed was hard and lumpy, the carpet was stained. The room was in need of a major update and clean.
In such a great location, could be a little gem.

We were only staying here for 1 night so the cost played a factor in our choice. The room was large, although a little dated and in need of a lick of paint and modernisation. However the bathroom was tiny, and full of problems. The toilet took 1 hour to drain after each flush. The shower only worked with cold water, when you even tried to get warm water the shower turned into a drip - so it was impossible to have a shower. Admittedly we didn't notify the hotel of this until we checked out, as and we were going to the Bath Spa we planned to use the showers there. However, upon advising the hotel of the issues at check out - all they said was "thanks for letting me know". They were not apologetic, suprised or even seemed bothered which was very disappointing. Total lack of customer service.

Well, I stayed in room 108 and I have to say it has seen better days! You can't fill the kettle from the tap, it's true, but since the only power point that worked meant disconnecting the heater I decided not to bother. This is very peculiar. All the desk staff were charming and friendly, but why do they work there? Who owns it? This is prime real estate in the middle of Bath, 2 mins from Pulteney Bridge, and an investment of £1m would bring in 4 or 5 times that in revenue - there is a 4* right across the road. I truly wondered if I would Google it and find the hotel had mysteriously burned down in 1976 and left empty and I had been staying in a ghost hotel. It is faded, sad, forgotten, paint peeling of the walls, stained carpets, an EMPTY (and unopened in years) bar and lounge - but to be fair, the bathroom was spotless ( apart from the mould ) if icy cold and unheated. But it was £60 , two mins walk from the Abbey and they looked after my luggage while I shopped, so there you go. BUT - the walls are paper thin. So if you were the man in room 109, please THINK before you hold videoconferences and telephone calls between 11.45 and 2am so loudly that I could hear BOTH ends of the conversation and then watch the tv until 3am. If you can afford that long on the phone and computer, you can stay somewhere with thicker walls. One night there with a friend for shopping was fine ( apart from Mr Ignorant next door ). For longer - I probably wouldn't. But I WOULD suggest someone buys this place and turns it into what it COULD be.
