“Much better after refurb”
Reviewed 25 March 2014

This is a solid, inexpensive option right in the heart of central Bath. Since undergoing a refurbishment, the rooms are clean, pleasant, and if you ask for a room on the courtyard side, relatively quiet. Unfortunately the hotel is frequented by stag and hen dos aplenty but apart from that, this is as efficient and central as you're going to find in Bath.

Booked this for an overnight before an open day at Bath Uni. Was concerned on seeing all the negative reviews but need not have worried. The negative reviews are clearly prior to refurb. I found the reception staff (Jess) to be welcoming, helpful and polite. The room was spacious and clean. Tea and coffee provided. Bed a little hard but comfy. Could have done with a full length mirror and more plugs. Water pressure sufficient in shower but could have been better. had a little trouble finding hotel in the dark. Used long stay car park around corner from hotel (free between 8pm and 8am) and text to book from 8am. Although loads of places to eat in Bath, it us directly next to a a few eating places and bars. Excellent value.......especially in Bath!

Really impressive location, in the heart of Bath. All clean and tidy. Had just been redecorated so rooms are just like new. No breakfast served here but highly recommend the American Pancake Stack from the cafe opposite. Best to park the car behind the hotel, for free from 8pm-8am and then move car at 8am. Parking wardens are normally there first thing.

Really pleased. Refurbished with fresh, clean feel. Very central to Bath's Tourist attractions. Chris at Reception very helpful and always cheerful. Good car parking facilities nearby. Definitely return.

Hotel was used as part of a school trip with 6th formers for a Model United Nations conference at Kingswood School. The Travelodge was ideal as it was only 7 or 8 minutes walk to the Riverside Coach Park, where our minibus was parked, although there was car parking behind the hotel. Location was great for accessing restaurants and cinema. We were on third floor - I couldn't hear the music from the nightclub below but not sure if this would have been the case on the lower floors. The problem I had for sleeping was that the neighbouring room must have opened the window and the room doors were not very secure in the door frames and their door kept banging in the breeze, so better fitting doors would help. The noise insulation and thickness of the ceiling were also an issue and there was a lot of noise coming through from pigeons on the roof above - a constant scratching noise. The room itself was clean and comfortable. I would stay there again for a school visit as it is an affordable city centre option, but I would not use this hotel for a personal visit.

Room Tip: Second floor probably best, high enough above nightclub but no pigeons above!

We stayed in Bath over a weekend where every accommodation place either doubles in price or expects a 2 night minimum, so I was very happy to find the Travelodge at a decent rate. It is a nice location and furnished nicely. Yes, there is a nightclub underneath but to be honest I didn't hear it once! Staff were friendly and we would come and stay again!

We were very worried before arriving because of so many negative reviews. We didn't need to worry.
On arrival the staff were friendly, professional and helpful. We were allocated a room on the 3rd floor at the back of the hotel. Lovely views over Bath. The room, although small, was clean and obviously recently refurbished:- fresh paint, newish carpets etc.
We slept well for 2 nights, excellent position for all the bars, restaurants and shops in Bath. I could vaguely hear the music from the club on the Saturday night, but not enough to disturb my sleep.
I'm giving the hotel 5 stars, not because its a 5 star hotel, but because for the price the hotel really is excellent.
