Description: Welcome to Portvcale Lounge, a relaxed and laid back Portuguese restaurant/bar in the centre of the world heritage city of Bath. It's family run and the food is freshly cooked by the mother. Traditional "petiscos" and cataplanas as well as other main dishes like "bacalhau a Bras" or "Frango Piri Piri", followed by a exquisite list of wines from the North, Centre and South of Portugal. Also to try are the different types of Sangria (Red, White and Champagne)and the different freshly baked desserts on offer daily.Come and indulge yourself to one of the oldest gastronomies in the world...the Portuguese.

“Consistently delivers 5 star service and food..........”
Reviewed 11 September 2013

We cant get enough of this place! The owner/waitor Antonio is as charming as he is efficient and makes the best Sangria money can buy!. Mama delivers her secret Portuguese recipes time and time again to perfection and we cant get enough!, I would like to offer recommendations for dishes but when everything is so superb it is hard too! Meat, fish and vegetarians are all well catered for in a relaxed informal atmosphere.
Only the most critical could point out a minor decorative re-furb would move this on to another level, but this is like visiting friends in a great friendly atmosphere with beautiful tasty tapas style dishes.....It is a very dependable independent with exceptional value for money thrown in and is a must for the tourists as it is for the Bathonians! Enjoy,I know you will...........

“Great band, ambience and food.”
Reviewed 29 August 2013 via mobile

Found the only choice in Bath to be chain pubs, Thai or Italian, so this Portugese was a welcome relief. Good food and deserves a visit as an independent.

“Really nice!”
Reviewed 24 August 2013

We were warmly welcomed to this little restaurant on a Saturday night and even though we didn't have a reservation and the place was full, we were seated quite quickly. Our group of three shared 6 small dishes (like tapas), all of which were really tasty. We paid around £11 each.
The service is good and quick and the ambience warm and relaxing. It's a really nice place, even if you go just for drinks. I would like to revisit.

“Have the Sangria!”
Reviewed 22 August 2013

Spotted this place on trip advisor whilst sat in the pub up the road, visited for dinner and I would definitely recommend it. The food is lovely, can't remember exactly what we ate, but the whole menu sounded tempting. It's mainly tapas dishes, although there are a few mains. Also had Rose Sangria, which was the best Sangria ever, especially on a hot day.
The owner is really nice and welcoming, his mum appears to be the chef who's also really friendly. The decor is nice, seats are comfy, and the music is nice and chilled out.
