We visited as a party of four on a Saturday evening, although the bar was busy, we were quickly shown to the table that we had booked. The menu and specials board is extensive so there is something for everyone. Our food order was taken by a very friendly waitress when we were ready and there was no long wait for our food to arrive. The food was delicious, the servings were more than ample and the bill was less than we have paid for similar elsewhere. We shall return.

We often pass this pub on our way to Bath and ate here for the first time last Saturday with our son. A lovely village pub with a very warm welcome. We all made a different choice from the blackboard and were delighted with the food. It arrived piping hot and well cooked, in ample portions. Our waitress was friendly and efficient and very attentive. The two puddings ordered were homemade and much enjoyed. I finished off with coffee and was delighted with the jug of fresh cream and a good bowl of brown sugar - much better than the usual little sachets!

The pub was very busy with the very pleasant buzz of people enjoying an evening out but this didn't seem to cause any problems with efficiency and several people in the bar area were just enjoying a drink or having a meal with their well behaved dogs lying alongside.

We will certainly visit again, perhaps for Sunday lunch, and feel sure we will have a warm welcome (I'm can't believe the person who mentioned a sort of insular village feel went to the same pub!) and good food as before.

My husband and I went to The Stag on the recommendation of a friend who suggested we try their Sunday roast.
The car park was almost full when we arrived at 2pm and the bar and restaurant areas were very busy, however service was very prompt,
Our food was absolutely delicious, my husband had the mixed roast which was a combination of Pork, Beef and Chicken, I had the roast Pork with plenty of crackling! All served with plenty of fresh veg and cheesy leeks and two jugs of extra gravy!
Service was fast and friendly
There was a blackboard full of other menu options in the bar which I'm certain would have been equally as good.
We couldn't manage a dessert as we were full, but we could see they looked very nice indeed.
I would recommend that you ring to book a table in advance as its clearly very popular .
