We received a very friendly welcome and was looking forward to our stay. We had booked the hotel online via the holiday inn express website and had decided to have an online chat with an advisor, since we wanted to be clear that we needed a family room for 2 adults one child, and enough room for a cot.

On arriving in the room it was clear there was very little additional room for the cot. I went to speak with reception, however was told that all other rooms are the same size, and no options where given.

We put the cot up and could only just squeeze past it to get to the door, let alone get the pushchair in and out. At this point my partner went to reception to investigate what they where going to do about this, as we had been specifically told when we booked that there would be enough room.

Although the hotel could not resolve the issue that evening, they did move us the next day to two rooms with an adjoining door. The staff where very helpful when the point was pushed and could not have done more to help.

Unfortunately there helpfulness was let down by what can only be described as an awful breakfast the next day. The baked beans where extremely budget, the sausages where less than average and the eggs where nowhere to be seen. On further investigation I was advised that they had some but where not allowed to serve them.

On departure they advised us that they had changed the policy with head office for this particular hotel that the rooms can only have 2 adults and either the sofa bed or a cot bed.

The location is a reasonable walk from the town centre approx. 10-20 mins depending on your walking speed an route. However if you want to do the bus tour then crossing the river by the new riverside development opposite the hotel you will find a bus stop where you can pick up the tour bus, very useful.

The room was well appointed with comfortable beds a clean bathroom and basic tea making facilities.

Overall nice staff nice place, let down by a poor breakfast and bad corporate policyies on booking which have now been hopefully resolved.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for writing this review for the Holiday Inn Express Bath, we appreciate you taking the time to complete this detailed review.

Firstly, please accept my apologies for the miscommunication between yourselves and our online web chat team. I am pleased though that my team on-site was able to accommodate your family and assist with this situation. We have since been in discussions with regards to this policy and will be making necessary amendments when possible.

I am saddened to hear our complimentary express start breakfast did not meet your needs. This is an area we are constantly monitoring to ensure guests have a great start to their day ahead. We did unfortunately have a problem with our supplier to which resulted in us not being able to serve one of the three hot options.

Thank you again for your comments.

Yours sincerely,

Located just on the edge of town, close to a large Sainsbury’s, which is handy. Is still easy enough to walk around and see some of the main sites. Complimentary breakfast is basic, but gets you going for the day.
Beds were quite firm and I found them to be quite uncomfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful with suggestions for a great place for dinner, Hall and Woodhouse.
We had read there were laundry facilities available, but found out the closest one was at least a km away, and quite hard to find. Even the locals weren’t sure about it’s exact location. Just incase you need to go there, it is called the ‘Triangle Laundrette’ and is on the corner of Moorland Rd and Triangle W. Costs 3 pound for a wash and 2 pound should be enough for a dry cycle.

Very good welcome, comfortable quiet room, with excellent breakfast which is included in the room rate. Our package also included entrance to the fabulous Thermae Bath Spa which is an easy walk from the hotel. Staff very helpful and friendly. Reasonably priced car parking available. Overall an excellent visit. Just across the road there is an excellent Indian Restaurant, reasonably priced and worth a visit.

We arrive early Friday and room was ready, yes we were charged £6 a day for the car park but after spending a bit of time at Weston and £6 for 2 hours its very reasonable.
Typical HIE nice rooms and you could be anywhere in the world, the hotel was busy with the car park full but didnt hear any noise from room.
We were warned breakfast was busy but we are early risers so had breakfast at 7-7.30 , continental breakfast , not a lot of choice though, first day a bit of a hot menu of bens, scrambled eggs and sausges as well as continental but then on sunday just beans and sausages.
10 mins to centre not the most scenic of routes but some decent hostelreys on the way.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to write this review on the Holiday Inn Express Bath. We appreciate all guests feeding back their experiences with us.

I am pleased you found our car parking to be reasonable, we do keep charges to a minimum as you have mentioned just 2 hours alone costing the same as over 24hours with us.

Please accept my apologies that we were unable to provide our full hot selection on your second morning. Unfortunately, due to supplier issues we were not able to provide all options.

Thank you again, we hope to welcome you back to bath and our hotel again soon.

The location of this hotel made it for us. The Hotel chain really are normally good hotels but sometimes the location can be a little to far away from the centre. This one is a 5 - 10 min easy walk right into the centre.
The car park is large (yes £6 a day) but most HI exp I've stopped in do charge extra. You can always leave it out on a side road if you want that inconvenience.
Helpful reception staff ( ask for a city map a photocopy does fine).
Sainsburys superstore very close if you need anything.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for posting your feedback on our Trip Advisor page, we welcome all feedback to ensure we are meeting the needs and expectations of all our guests.

I am delighted to hear you found our location to be ideal when visiting the city centre. We do have a secure on-site car park which is chargeable at £6.00 per car per night; this enables guests to leave their cars up until 4pm on the day of departure. I would like to take this opportunity of making all guests aware that most roads in Bath are restricted to permit holders only, so please be mindful of this if you do decide to park elsewhere.

Thank you again for your kind comments.
