Owner description: The Little Theatre Cinema was built by community theatre pioneer Consuelo de Reyes and her husband in 1935. It initially functioned as a news theatre open from midday and showing hourly programmes of documentaries and newsreels. Feature films were first shown in 1939, the first two being "Peg of Old Drury" starring Anna Neagle followed by "Oh Mr Porter" starring Will Hay. The cinema thrived on local support throughout the years as other Bath cinema venues closed and in 1979 the former scenery store and lounge area were converted into a second screen. In spite of many refurbishments to keep the cinema up-to-date with digital sound and the latest projection technology, and a renewal of the seats to give the very best comfort levels, The Little Theatre has retained the charm and welcoming warmth of a 1930's cinema, including a luxury balcony with sofas in the main auditorium.

Feels like a family business Shows films that you don't get in the multiplexes but shows current blockbusters as well

A fantastic contrast to the anonymity and mainstream blockbusters served up by multiplexes. Super retro experience with high quality coffee and tea, ice-cream and sweets. Excellent choice of films, including current box office but also more obscure choices. Super comfy seats and charming enthusiastic staff.

Now with amazing new seats, The Little is a great local cinema, full of passionate film fans from 2 to 102.

They show most of the latest films plus live performances of ballet etc. relayed in. Also connected to the Komedia nearby.
Quirky and old but with comfortable new seating. Give me "Th Little" any day over the modern multi-screens.

Independent, quirky, comfortable and friendly. In addition to the latest blockbusters, the Little offers much more choice than the big cinema chains with old favourites, classics, foreign and art films included in the programming.
