Owner description: The Little Theatre Cinema was built by community theatre pioneer Consuelo de Reyes and her husband in 1935. It initially functioned as a news theatre open from midday and showing hourly programmes of documentaries and newsreels. Feature films were first shown in 1939, the first two being "Peg of Old Drury" starring Anna Neagle followed by "Oh Mr Porter" starring Will Hay. The cinema thrived on local support throughout the years as other Bath cinema venues closed and in 1979 the former scenery store and lounge area were converted into a second screen. In spite of many refurbishments to keep the cinema up-to-date with digital sound and the latest projection technology, and a renewal of the seats to give the very best comfort levels, The Little Theatre has retained the charm and welcoming warmth of a 1930's cinema, including a luxury balcony with sofas in the main auditorium.

Lovely friendly movie freaks place.
Great vibe, nice people.
No one is going to be on the phone...chomping crisps... talking or being a pain.
This is for cinema fans.
Great movies, even see the major releases here. its worth it.
My only niggle is they should have even more releases here, the same as London cinemas.
but...
small is beautiful and vibey.

“Speciality cinema”
Reviewed 16 August 2014

It is a little old cinema that shows speciality films, some long forgotten, some of special interest and all valuable and educational. The prices are very low and the experience is unique.

“Love it here”

Balcony in screen 1 was a new thing for us - very nice to be in a cinema on a sofa! Helpful volunteers and pleasant atmosphere in a quirky but worldly atmosphere.

“Great atmospheric venue”
Reviewed 6 August 2014 via mobile

This is a wonderful venue for watching a film. It's like going back in time. Plush seats in an old theatre setting, with modern-day screenings. You can even take advantage of Orange Wednesdays. A nice alternative to the more mainstream Odeon.
