A wonderfully friendly welcome, a beautiful house furnished to exceptionally high standards and one of the best breakfasts I have ever had in a B&B! I would heartily recommend a stay at Hill House to anyone planning a visit to Bath. Its central location makes it easy to reach all the Bath attractions on foot. The room was a great size, the bed was incredibly comfortable with lovely bed linen. The attention to detail included fresh milk and a good selection of teas. I slept very well indeed. The stylish bathroom is fully equipped with White Company toiletries. The breakfast room is gorgeous as was the selection of fruit compotes and cereals. Douglas made us heavenly blueberry pancakes with maple syrup and I was set for another day of sight seeing!

We had room 1 (first floor). If you have ever had one of those dreams where you imagine that you wake up in your bed in the street, then this is what sleeping in this room is like. You are opposite an extremely busy t-junction and the traffic does not stop all day - from early in the morning and right through the night. To have spent so much money on refurbishing this property and not to have installed some type of double glazing is madness.

The room was very clean, comfortable bed, nice tea/coffee but to my dismay no bottled water whatsoever - which is the norm. Breakfast was nice and the owners are helpful. Just a suggestion though - in the middle of winter and when you are charging so much for a room and then tell your guests that there is no heating in the bathroom due to a problem, offer a discount on the room or a bottle of cava - that bathroom was freezing and a little thought from the owners would have been well received and let us face it - a good business move on their part. Couple of bottles of water (small ones), some secondary double glazing and a bit more thought and yes, nice place to stay.

Room Tip: Bring earplugs or turn your hearing aid off!

A thoughtfully run upmarket bed and breakfast, within walking distance of the historic centre of Bath. Our room was a good size and tastefully furnished, with an impressive shower and lots of little personal touches. The owners, two middle-aged Englishmen, are friendly and well informed. Visiting in December, we found the place warm and cosy. Breakfast was excellent.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the main road may be too noisy for some; a fair amount of traffic passes. If you are sensitive to noise, request a room at the rear.

We really enjoyed this beautiful b&b. would definately recommend. We stayed in room 4 which as slightly more expensive but was spacious, huge bed, lovely sofa and coffee table. Flat screen tv all very modern decor. Bathroom spotless with white company free toiletries. Hairdryer provided as well as cotton wool, buds and tissues. Tea and coffee available in room with home made shortbread biscuits topped up daily and fresh milk delivered in the afternoon. Very friendly owners and breakfast was the best. homemade compot, mushrooms a la creme and full english breakfast. Toast and home made jams. We were a little worried about sitting around a large table with strangers but it was actually really nice. The only tiny down point was the room was a bit chilly in the night as there is no double glazing due to the fact they are keeping the period features of sash windows, this also meant our room was noisy as it overlooked the main road.

Room Tip: room 4 is on the main road but was a nice size

We stayed in HIll House for 3 nights last week and from the moment we arrived we were welcomed and made to feel at home.
We got there a few hours early for check-in and were fully expecting to just ask to drop off our bags and wander into town but, after a refreshing cup of tea and a friendly chat, we were told the room was ready and our case was carried up for us.
We were in Room 1, which was nicely decorated and comfortable. The bathroom wasn't huge but was large enough & nicely done and the White Company toiletries were really lovely.

The tea/coffee facilities were nicely set out and the addition of fresh milk in a thermos each day was a particularly nice touch (as were the delicious shortbread biscuits provided!).

Breakfast needs a special mention. As well as delicious cafetiere coffee or freshly brewed tea there was an assortment of cereals and fresh fruit and orange juice plus yoghurt with different selections of fruits to accompany it, for example blueberries, red berries in juice or apricots in syrup.
The cooked breakfasts were simply wonderful, I can highly recommend the Eggs Benedict - Douglas really is an excellent chef and you won't be disappointed whatever you order.

The walk into town wasn't far (about 5-10 minutes depending on your pace) and although it was uphill on the way back, anyone who is capable of walking around Bath for a day is capable of walking up the hill.
Parking was with a permit supplied by Hill House and we managed to find a quiet spot a couple of streets away. There were plenty of areas where the permit was valid.
We also had use of the permit for the day we checked out (as some of the people staying had come by train), which was very useful to get in that last bit of Christmas shopping & taking in the lovely atmosphere in the town itself.

I could go on all day about just how excellent this B&B is, the friendly service, the gorgeous food and the tasteful decor. It really is the best B&B either of us have ever stayed in - we didn't want to leave!
