Perfect for a short stay (or long if you prefer) in Bath, wonderful warm reception, immaculate rooms, nice touches (shortbread biscuits and fresh milk for coffee in room). Quality accessories and delicious breakfast in a beautiful house. The owners are delightful hosts! Thank you for a wonderful weekend, highly recommended.

This is one of the best B&B's I have ever stayed in. My mum and I stayed two nights in room 4, a twin room on the second floor, and cannot rate it highly enough. The rooms are elegant, spacious and tastefully decorated. Having a sofa in the room made it feel very luxurious and provided a perfect spot for relaxing with a cup of tea (selection box on every landing) and a biscuit (jar of shortbread replenished every day). Fresh milk and bottles of chilled water are provided each day as well as as many recoomendations for things to do and places to go as you could wish for.

Breakfasts are a sociable affair with everyone seated around one big table, laden with jam and other spreads for the baskets of toast (it may seem strange to comment on the toast but I'm frequently disappointed with hotel toast but this was crisp, hot and beautiful). A buffet table of juice, cornflakes, muesli, granola, yogurt, compote and fresh fruit is provided but don't fill up on this as the cooked breakfasts are divine. There's the usual variations on the English breakfast cooked to order and as vegetarians we were offered eggs floentine one day and a huge helping of blueberry pancakes the next.

We almost didn't stay here as we thoguht it might have been too far out of town but aside from being on top of the hill it's perfectly placed and you won't have any trouble parking a car. Harry and Douglas are wonderful hosts and I wish them every success with this gem of a B&B.

We stayed here for 2 nights and were really impressed. The owners are incredibly warm and welcoming and made lots of great recommendations for our stay in Bath. Our room was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. It's obvious that the owners have thought about every detail, there are huge fluffy towels, really good quality linen, lovely toiletries and nice little touches like a bottle of water being left out for you every night. The delicious breakfast was the perfect start to the day. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place and can't wait to go back!

Unfortunately we could only stay one night. From the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble. We were settled in with a welcome drink and biscuits in the lovely dining room during which Harry was a mine of local information. Our first floor room was elegant and spacious. Loved the furnishings.Classy bathroom. Breakfast was plentiful and of excellent quality. With a residents parking permit parking was not an issue and the town centre was a ten minute walk away down the hill.

We, as a party of 4 stopped at this newly renovated hotel in April 2012.
I have to say as we walked in through the door the welcome and hospitality shown by Harry, Al & Douglas was second to none experienced before. Nothing at all was to much trouble.
We were shown to an wonderfull room upon the 1st floor, nice big comfy bed & well furnished with top class attention to detail.
Breakfast in the dining room was also faultless, getting exactly what you asked for!
Gotta to be the best in Bath in my opinion! Thanks Harry, Doug & Al !

It is no surprise to my wife and I that Hill House has received almost unanimous 5 star reviews. What a fabulous B&B! The hosts were so friendly and helpful, the rooms beautiful and all the little touches / attention to detail push the place up from merely Excellent to Outstanding! Can't wait to go back.

Hillhouse Bath now heads the list of our best B&Bs. We stayed at Hillhouse Bath for 3 nights as part of our 5 week travels around England and Italy in May 2013. Hillhouse itself is in a great location in easy walking distance of everything in Bath and has been beautifully converted into a B&B by Douglas and Harry, who have superb taste and have left nothing out in their desire to make their guests comfortable.

Right down to the simple (but thoughtful) touch of providing fresh milk each day to go with the tea in our room. The bed was really comfortable and the spacious room was tastefully and cleverly furnished to allow us to spread out and relax after a hard day exploring the delightful city of Bath. Harry was amazing with his local knowledge and provided us with great tips on places to eat and the best way to make the most of our time in Bath. One of his tips, to take the free guided walking tour of Bath on our first morning, proved to be a masterstroke and really helped us to gain an insight into Bath and focus our visit. Breakfasts were simply superb, from the tastefully decorated large table with individual place settings and fresh flowers to the daily changing tempting selections including blueberry crepes and eggs benedict, as well as the fresh fruit, cereals and yoghurts available on the side table. The varied company around the table was great and for us, adds to the travel experience with its mix of local and international tourists. I probably shouldn't say this but everyone who travels knows what a difficulty it is to find a convenient laundry. When we asked Harry to direct us to the nearest laundromat he had no hesitation in offering to do our laundry with the guesthouse laundry. That's what I call service.

Welcome to our home! Hill House was built in 1765 at the end of a Georgian terrace behind the Assembly rooms in Central Bath. Built originally as a hotel it later became a wine merchants and then a pub. The current owners purchased the property in 2011 and have updated the property throughout. The modernisation has been sympathetically undertaken to retain as much of the period of charm of the property as possible. The property now has six en suite letting rooms located one at the front and one at the back on each of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors of the property. All bedrooms are equipped with newly appointed shower rooms, 32” digital Televisions, hairdryers and free wifi. The more the stairs the better the views from the rooms across Bath to the countryside beyond!Breakfast is served in our dining room on one large table, where reccomendations of what to see and where to eat are shared. Besides a choice of cereals etc we also offer a choice of two cooked breakfasts per day which vary throughout the week. We are able to cater for most dietary requirements but ask for as much notice as possible as we do not carry some items as stock as we are only a small establishment. This is our home and we want you to be able to relax in it. We have ironing facilities and a house sewing kit to hand. If you need anything else please ask and we will see what we can do.Hill House is a 2 minute walk from the Assembly Rooms and five minutes from the main shopping centre and Royal Crescent.
