“Three nights and a wedding”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 September 2013

We were invited to a friends wedding last Saturday, and decided to head to Bath on the Friday night rather than risk getting caught in traffic on the day. Having booked a room up way ahead of schedule, we later decided we'd like to make a long weekend of it, and extend our stay an extra night. The owners were very accommodating and more than happy to oblige us.
We arrived about 8:30 on the Friday night, and were greeted by Harry who helped us to our room (up on the top floor) with our luggage, and then took me down to a parking space a little distance from the house.
It's a five minute walk down into Bath, so it's pretty much central (although it is - as the name suggests - on a hill, so it's a bit of a climb back!)
The room was a decent size, with a very comfortable bed and an enormous bathroom with a large shower (no bath though).
The owners were charming and friendly and gave us advice on places to eat out, and after my wife volunteered us to walk their dog Jasper, gave us a walking route down by the canal and river which showed both of us a part of Bath we'd never seen before.
Breakfast was excellent, I had the full English every day, which I'd highly recommend, but there was always a different cooked option, as well as the usual fruit and cereal options.
Only caveat, if you're a little unsteady on your feet, you might want to specify not to have the top two rooms as the staircase is a little narrow.
I'd recommend this place highly, the guys have done a great job renovating the house and made our stay very welcoming.

We stayed here on the second stop of our UK adventure. It is absolutely lovely. I would highly recommend to anyone. The owners are incredibly friendly and helpful, the breakfast is delicious, and the rooms are beautiful. The only slight downside is that the B&B is on a fairly steep hill. I am not in very good shape and I was able to get there without much trouble. Although it is on a hill, it is still really close to all the main sites. Wonderful place!

I recently stayed at Hill House for business reasons, however I will go back at any possible opportunity! The owners should train other B and B owners about how things should be done because everything here is just perfect and correct and blissful!
Credit where credit is due and you deserve every possible credit words can say!!!! Thank you and see you soon!!

On a fairly steep hill (as the name suggests), but located in a pretty area near the center -- only a few blocks from some very good restaurants. The breakfast was excellent, with a choice of a different special dish each day as well as the "full English." My room was big, nicely furnished, very comfortable, with a view of the street and a bit of the town. Plus the guys who run it are great!

We chose this B&B after reading the excellent reviews on tripadvisor and it has certainly lived up to its reputation. The service is excellent with the owner holding a nearby car-space for me and then helping me with my luggage and organising a welcoming tea/coffee and biscuits whilst local pointing out points of interest, restaurants / bars etc on a map. Breakfast was delicious and top quality - couldn't ask for better and the room is spaccious and modern / well set-out as is the ensuite. We would definately recommend Hill House to anyone looking for a relaxing break in Bath. FANTASTIC!!!!

I recently stayed at Hill House on the night of my wedding. The owners were excellent and very accommodating. They were able to receive a bag from one of my groomsmen in the morning and sent a written note with key with him to 'Mr & Mrs' which was lovely. They also set some rose petals out on the bed for me that I ordered previously. My wife was delighted! We didn't arrive until gone midnight, but again this was no problem.

Breakfast was excellent, as was the standard and size of the room. Excellent value for money and would highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in Bath. A short roll downhill into town (but a longer walk back up) for those sightseeing.

Just returned from a 2 night stay at Hill House and had a fantastic stay. The owners were so welcoming and willing to help and advise you with anything and made great effort into remembering what each couple had done the day before and asked if they had enjoyed it the next day at breakfast- the personal touch you get at guesthouses rather than huge hotels. The room was spacious and comfortable, it certainly felt like we were snuggled up at home. The whole house is full of character and perfectly clean. It took us (we are in our 20's) about 10 minutes to walk into the town, it is an uphill walk back but nothing too dreadful! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: Room 6 also has great views, not of the town centre but of the hills.

Welcome to our home! Hill House was built in 1765 at the end of a Georgian terrace behind the Assembly rooms in Central Bath. Built originally as a hotel it later became a wine merchants and then a pub. The current owners purchased the property in 2011 and have updated the property throughout. The modernisation has been sympathetically undertaken to retain as much of the period of charm of the property as possible. The property now has six en suite letting rooms located one at the front and one at the back on each of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors of the property. All bedrooms are equipped with newly appointed shower rooms, 32” digital Televisions, hairdryers and free wifi. The more the stairs the better the views from the rooms across Bath to the countryside beyond!Breakfast is served in our dining room on one large table, where reccomendations of what to see and where to eat are shared. Besides a choice of cereals etc we also offer a choice of two cooked breakfasts per day which vary throughout the week. We are able to cater for most dietary requirements but ask for as much notice as possible as we do not carry some items as stock as we are only a small establishment. This is our home and we want you to be able to relax in it. We have ironing facilities and a house sewing kit to hand. If you need anything else please ask and we will see what we can do.Hill House is a 2 minute walk from the Assembly Rooms and five minutes from the main shopping centre and Royal Crescent. There are plenty of local places to eat and drink close by and we would be happy to give recommendations upon request. On street Parking permits are available but will need to be reserved. ... more   less
