Me and my partner have just returned from a wonderful two night stay at the Hill House in Bath. We booked it after reading the reviews on here, and were not disappointed.
From the minute we made our reservation we were overwhelmed by the attentive and informative manor in which we were dealt.
On arrival we were advised we had been upgraded to a bigger room (room 2). The room was beautiful and spacious, The break was a birthday treat for me and the room upgrade made it even more special.
Our hosts couldn't do enough for us and were very informative with regards to local restaurants etc.
I would without question recommend the Hill House to any of my friends or family.
My only comment would be to ensure you are happy walking up steep hills although a taxi was only £4 from the train station so its not the end of the world if you don't!

Room Tip: Room 2 was beautiful

My boyfriend and i have visited Bath several times and always aim to try somewhere new. We had never stayed at Hill House before and after reading the reviews on here, i booked a 3 night break to incorporate the chistmas markets and my boyfriends birthday.
What can i say, a beautiful and delightful bed and breakfast. Harry and Douglas were fantastic, extremely thoughtful and excellent hosts. The breakfasts were incredible, the specials of the day were outstanding, especially the eggs benedict and the blueberry pancakes. The dining area has one large table for all the guests to sit around. This is a lovely way to have a chat with fellow guests and potentially find new places to visit in and around Bath.
The decor throughout the building is finished to a very high standard. Our room (number 4) was huge and the en-suite was fabulous, loved the clean modern finish.
We are already planning to come back in a couple of years for my 30th, finally found the perfect place for us in Bath. Thank you Harry and Douglas for a lovely stay. Keep up the good work.

Enjoyed a lovely 2 night stay. Harry and Douglas are wonderful hosts, very welcoming and helpful. Our room, number 2, is spacious, very well appointed and beautifully decorated. The shower room is immaculate with fluffy white towels and complimentary White Stuff toiletries. The dining room is lovely and guests are seated communally at a large dining table. This was a new experience for us but a good one. One couple, we struck a real rapport with. When we arrived on Sunday, Harry asked if there was anything special we would like for breakfast apart from full English, we suggested Eggs Benedict and were offered them on Monday morning. They were delicious, eggs cooked to perfection with a very tasty hollandaise sauce. The full English the next day was very well presented and again delicious. Harry and Douglas deserve all the success they have. If visiting Bath we would certainly stay here again and have no hesitation in recommending to family and friends.

Room Tip: Room 2 was so spacious and beautifully decorated.

This is our 2nd time staying at the Hill house Guest house & we are booked in again for next spring for the weekend.
Harry & Douglas are fab, nothing is to much, very helpful, advice is always there on restaurants to eat & places to visit.
Breakfast is delicious
Love the fact breakfast is in a large dining room where we all sit together & we all have a chat which is lovely.
Rooms are spacious & spotless.
I don't have any problems with Wifi connection as when I put it in my iPad march this year when we stayed it just went straight onto when we were there this time, fantastic
Looking forward to stopping again next year.
Many thanks Harry & Douglas you are both such great hosts, making your guests feel very welcome & that's what it's all about.

Harry and Douglas are excellent hosts. They are very welcoming and extremely helpful. The breakfasts are excellent and Hill House is very well located, just a short walk from the heart of Bath's attractions. I would certainly recommend Hill House to anyone thinking of visiting Bath.

Had a wonderful night's stay in Hill House last weekend. Harry and Douglas's attention to detail is excellent and the house is warm and welcoming. We have been to Bath many times but Harry gave us ideas of new places to see and things to do - also great restaurant recommendations. Loved it so much that we have booked the same weekend next year.

What can I say? I certainly echo the superlatives provided by other reviewers. Not much to add (good location, amazing food, ridiculously exceptional service) except that I hope these two wonderful uber-hosts don't burn themselves out. It would be lovely to see this B&B operational years and years from now.

My only caution is that the wifi connection can be finicky -- but then, you wouldn't be looking at a B&B if this was a priority, now would you? ;)

Room Tip: top floor staircase might be a bit steep if you are mobility impaired in any way (shouldn't be a...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Welcome to our home! Hill House was built in 1765 at the end of a Georgian terrace behind the Assembly rooms in Central Bath. Built originally as a hotel it later became a wine merchants and then a pub. The current owners purchased the property in 2011 and have updated the property throughout. The modernisation has been sympathetically undertaken to retain as much of the period of charm of the property as possible. The property now has six en suite letting rooms located one at the front and one at the back on each of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors of the property. All bedrooms are equipped with newly appointed shower rooms, 32” digital Televisions, hairdryers and free wifi. The more the stairs the better the views from the rooms across Bath to the countryside beyond!Breakfast is served in our dining room on one large table, where reccomendations of what to see and where to eat are shared. Besides a choice of cereals etc we also offer a choice of two cooked breakfasts per day which vary throughout the week. We are able to cater for most dietary requirements but ask for as much notice as possible as we do not carry some items as stock as we are only a small establishment. This is our home and we want you to be able to relax in it. We have ironing facilities and a house sewing kit to hand. If you need anything else please ask and we will see what we can do.Hill House is a 2 minute walk from the Assembly Rooms and five minutes from the main shopping centre and Royal Crescent. There are plenty of local places to eat and drink close by and we would be happy to give recommendations upon request. On street Parking permits are available but will need to be reserved. ... more   less
