Made very welcome immediately. Although no formal parking places ,one is issued with a permit and it was easy to find a space around the corner. The hosts are very helpful indeed from providing maps of Bath to making useful suggestions. The room was spotless and luxurious. The breakfasts must rate as one of our best in a B and B. many thanks to the owners.

If you can stay here, do! Yes, it is a walk up a steep hill, but well worth the extra effort. Supremely comfortable bed, terrific (and plentiful) breakfasts, hosts that went well beyond the call of duty to make us feel at home and give us great dining & sightseeing advice. And you can minimize the effect of the hill by taking a slightly longer, more circuitous route...

Room Tip: Room 1 is really lovely and large, but gets the most street noise and light -- if you don't mind...

My husband stayed at Hill House for 3 nights and what a wonderful experience it was. Our room was perfect. Beautifully decorated as was the whole premises. The breakfasts were absolutely wonderful and my gluten allergy was dealt with without any fuss. Douglas and Harry were wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Would definitely recommend that anyone wishing to go to Bath should use this B & B.

We were greeted at the door by Douglas with his kindly smile and who gave us a comfortable sense a place and history. A week later we returned to the same quality envirnon and friendly staff, having been charmed by Douglas, Allan and Harry to a high degree. We loved how they served breakfast - asking what we craved then served in a casual sort of way that lent to easy conversation. Five stars easy.

Room Tip: You will always get a great room

Everything was perfect: food, bed, plumbing, location, and most of all, hosts. Spent the last two nights there after walking the Cotswold Way. Saw the sights and did some bookstore browsing in Bath--all an easy walk. Received a great map with the B&B location marked on it. Very handy. Nice WiFi service, tea service, & breakfast service. Attention to detail remarkable. Super friendly, helpful owners.

(I accidentally checked five stars for pool and fitness center. They don't have either, but I don't know how to uncheck.)

Stayed twice, en route from home to the South-west. As all the earlier reviews say, time at Hill House is a blissful experience. Harry and Douglas are delightful hosts and even their dog is charming and welcoming. The bedrooms are comfortably ample and the bathrooms work as one would wish. The communal dining table for breakfast is very pleasant allowing one to meet an interesting cross-section of fellow travellers. The decor throughout is impeccable and, needless to say, everywhere is spotlessly clean. Being at an inner city location parking could be difficult but Harry solves the problem without fuss. We dined at two of his suggested local eateries and both were excellent. We have already recommended Hill House to many of our friends...

Room Tip: Both bedrooms that we stayed in were first class

Meant to write this review ages ago. Stayed back in April for 2 nights with my boyfriend to celebrate our 4 year anno. Had been recommended to stay here by my brother. B&B room (room 6) was beautiful, comfy bed, big bathroom, tea, coffee and shortbread in the room with fresh milk! (Not silly little plastic pots of milk)
Breakfast was amazing too. Had full English the first morning and eggs Benedict the next. Fresh fruit salad and cereal available too which you help yourself too.
Loved staying here. Owners were amazing, so kind and friendly, and great to chat to.
Will definitely recommend to anyone visiting Bath, and will stay again when we return!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Welcome to our home! Hill House was built in 1765 at the end of a Georgian terrace behind the Assembly rooms in Central Bath. Built originally as a hotel it later became a wine merchants and then a pub. The current owners purchased the property in 2011 and have updated the property throughout. The modernisation has been sympathetically undertaken to retain as much of the period of charm of the property as possible. The property now has six en suite letting rooms located one at the front and one at the back on each of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors of the property. All bedrooms are equipped with newly appointed shower rooms, 32” digital Televisions, hairdryers and free wifi. The more the stairs the better the views from the rooms across Bath to the countryside beyond!Breakfast is served in our dining room on one large table, where reccomendations of what to see and where to eat are shared. Besides a choice of cereals etc we also offer a choice of two cooked breakfasts per day which vary throughout the week. We are able to cater for most dietary requirements but ask for as much notice as possible as we do not carry some items as stock as we are only a small establishment. This is our home and we want you to be able to relax in it. We have ironing facilities and a house sewing kit to hand. If you need anything else please ask and we will see what we can do.Hill House is a 2 minute walk from the Assembly Rooms and five minutes from the main shopping centre and Royal Crescent. There are plenty of local places to eat and drink close by and we would be happy to give recommendations upon request. On street Parking permits are available but will need to be reserved. ... more   less
