Owner description: Thermae Bath Spa is Britain's only natural thermal Spa and benefits from the warm, mineral-rich waters which the Celts and Romans enjoyed over 2,000 years ago. Located in the heart of the World Heritage city of Bath, Thermae is a remarkable combination of five historic buildings and the contemporary architecture of the New Royal Bath. Highlights include the open-air rooftop pool with wonderful views over the city of Bath, the flowing curves of the Minerva Bath, the multi-sensory Wellness Suite and a choice of over 50 spa treatments and packages.

My partner and I visited this spa on a Sunday in July, and it was lovely, with very nice facilities, however there were several large groups who chatted loudly in the pool and steam rooms, somewhat detracting from the experience. I would suggest you avoid the period between 12-2pm on a weekend for a quieter experience.

Thank you for your comments and feedback. Weekends are often busy, particularly during the summer months and in school holidays. We try to encourage guests to visit mid-week where possible. We also limit the number and size of groups and try to encourage respect for the peace and privacy of all our guests.

Had a lovely visit to spa. 2 hour session was plenty of time to enjoy the basement pool with the lazy river the 4 different steam rooms on the middle floor and the fantastic outdoor roof top pool. At £27 for the 2 hour session it is rather expensive. But nice for a special treat.

Don't expect a private spa session when you visit: it's a large spa with many visitors. It is, however, incredibly relaxing. We had a 2 hour spa visit followed by a 50 minute massage on a Sunday morning, which meant we got free robes etc. and had plenty of time to change afterwards. The open air pool was great, with jacuzzi jets, and some beautiful views over Bath. The lower ground pool was less busy so gave more space to just float about. We really enjoyed the steam rooms, which were all different scents.

Arriving early meant that there were few people in the open air pool but it did fill up by midday. Also, the changing rooms did feel a bit like those in a public swimming pool.

It's not especially luxurious but it was incredibly relaxing, and the staff were all very helpful. We thought it was worth the money and would definitely go again.

I visited the Thermae Bath Spa in May 2014. We arranged to go for my birthday celebrations but when I rang 2 weeks in advance to book they said all the spaces had gone! I was shocked as it said no where on their website about how far you must book in advance. We did the Twilight package but got told that 60 tickets would go on sale at 4pm on the day of arrival. When we got there at 3 we thought they might be able to offer us something but they refused. Everyone started hovering around outside and it felt like everyone was in competition. As soon as they opened the doors everyone shot in! It was so stressful to try and get a place in the queue and I was just hoping this were going to get better and luckily they did. The pools were a little over crowded but there was still plenty of time to move around. We had a lovely time however I think they could offer more food on the menu for the price we paid.

Thank you for your comments, We are sorry that the timings of the Twilight Package did not create a good first impression. The Twilight Package begins at 4pm and we try to be as flexible as possible.

My mother and I enjoyed the two-hour package at the spa. We visited all three areas included in the package: the Minerva bath, the steam rooms, and the roof-top bath. While I enjoyed all three, my favorite was the Minerva bath. The temperature of the baths was perfect. We relaxed and floated around the baths; the roof-top bath is smaller so it was a bit crowded, but the Minerva bath had plenty of space. Some of the scents in the steam rooms were a bit strong for me, but I enjoyed the red (Lemongrass) and blue (Lotus flower) ones.

I would suggest bringing your own sandals, towel, and robe. You can rent these out there, but the price is a bit high for the quality. The robe was not very absorbent and after using it a couple times, it was cold and wet when we would put them on to switch rooms. The two-hour package gives you an extra 30 minutes to change, shower, and dry off before and after enjoying the baths. Having to keep our eye on the clock did detract slightly from our ability to fully relax.

Thank you for your feedback. We note your comment about the quality of the towels and robes. We regularly carry out quality checks and replace items showing signs of excessive use. We apologise that these seem to have slipped through the net.
