Rob has previously gained a Michelin star at Hunstrete House and another at Bath Priory. Delicious seasonal dishes using the freshest quality ingredients are the inspiration for Rob's menus. Rob began perfecting his art in 1988 at Ménage à Trois London, achieving his first Michelin star aged just 25 as head chef at Hunstrete House Hotel. He remains one of the youngest chefs ever to do so. Rob gained a second Michelin Star as executive head chef at the Bath Priory. Since then his work has continued to achieve high praise, winning Pub Company Menu of the year and Food Champion of the Year.

“Friendly service, excellent food”
Reviewed 17 August 2014

It was Friday evening and we hadn't booked but they fitted us in. Kelly, our waitress, was very friendly and extremely efficient. The food was excellent. It was my partner's birthday and she was brought a dessert with a candle in! Very nice ambience. Excellent value for money.Thoroughly recommend a visit.

Dear Brian C

Kelly was extremely happy to see her name on this review - she's a lovely member of the team and every table she looks after gives us great feedback...she's a keeper!

Do come back and see us the next time you're in town and phone ahead to make sure she looks after you!

All the best,

Hector.

“Finally...excellent British Food ”
Reviewed 12 August 2014 via mobile

Excellent lunch! After 2 weeks I the UK we finally had a great meal at this lovely and bright restaurant. Pea soup - very nice. How nice that my daughter who is 10 could have anything on the menu but just half the size. Nice! She had a great steak. My husband loved his venison sand which and I had the fish of the day. Very tasty. Nice size portion. Just right! And reasonable price too boot! Oh and our waitress was adorable and so kind and accommodating. Bravo!

“Amazing meal”
Reviewed 12 August 2014

There is only one thing that I can say about Clayton's Kitchen - you MUST, MUST, MUST go here!

Visited whilst we were in Bath on holiday and it was the best evening of our holiday. In fact, it goes down as one of the best meals ever.

We couldn't believe our luck to be able to get a table on a Friday evening when we hadn't booked but after a drink upstairs (gorgeous furnishings and a perfect Bloody Mary so do this too) we were happily slotted in to a fabby wee table sampling the recommended wine.

The food was perfection - you can tell that everyone takes pride in what they do and this really does show. We don't normally have a sweet and ended up having the platter of desserts - think we just wanted the night to go on and on.

Such a shame that we are now home in Glasgow and won't be able to make this our regular haunt but we will visit Bath again and Clayton's will be our "go to" restaurant.

So thank you everyone at Clayton's. Especially Hector - glad to know that the Scot's are showing them how to do it! And make sure you've got the Glayva or Drambuie in for our next visit. Please keep up the good work all. Congratulations on a great restaurant and concept.

Delighted with this review as we had one of those nights where everything clicked. The restaurant was buzzing, the upstairs and downstairs bars full and two parties of private diners having a great night on the third floor - just what we envisaged when we refurbished this wonderful building.

To top it all the Scots came in and waxed lyrical about the place - fantastic!

I can only admit to my shame that we had no Glayva or Drambuie - my Grandfather would turn in his grave - please accept my apologies!

I've already had two bottles ordered in anticipation of your next visit - so we'll see you soon!

Hector.

“Amazing food, great service...AND live jazz!”
Reviewed 11 August 2014

Having visited for a fantastic lunch during the week, I decided to book a table here for my girlfriends birthday meal last sunday night.
What a fantastic experience! We couldn't have been better looked after by Will our waiter, who was both personable and professional without being overbearing. The food was some of the best we've tasted in this city. The risotto which accompanied my chicken worked perfectly and my girlfriend's duck was simply delicious!
On hinting that it was a special occasion, David the manager couldn't have done a better job at ensuring that she left feeling on top of the world.
Thank you Will, David and the awesome Jazz band for making this truly a night to remember!
A hint to all boyfriends out there…this is the place to take your missus!

Dear Alex C

You're right about David and Will - they are fantastic!!

Thank you for this great review - they really put their all into their jobs and the fact that they enjoy it so much is evident each and every service. We're open from 8am until 10pm for food and the guys don't leave until 2am some days - they are always smiling and it comes from their example of how to give people a great time in a relaxed manner. Can you tell I'm glad we work with them?!

Hope to see you again soon.

Hector.
