So we went here on a friday night before dinner for a quick drink and really liked it... lovely wine and a lovely ale (this is a fullers pub and it shows in the variety on offer!) The staff and main bar room were warm and welcoming and the garden was lively and fun, felt like you were in a very personal family venue... 5/5 - fabulous!

We then went for lunch on saturday afternoon... different story! Indifferent staff, 50 minutes waiting for food and the much loved ale from friday had run out. Dont get me wrong the food was edible and the venue was pleasant but I couldnt believe this was the same pub just 14 hours later... 3/5 - very average impersonal pub

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review.
Apologies that you did not enjoy your second visit as much as you did your first.
Saturday's are one of our busiest days and this was clearly a problem when it came to the service you experienced.
We always try to ensure that every customers has a great time with us regardless of what day of the week it is and how busy we are.
I can only hope when your next in Bath you pop in and see us again and we can show you that the Saturday was a one off and the experience you had on the Friday is what you can expect every time you come to The Crystal Palace.

Kind Regards

“excellent food in lovely location”
Reviewed 16 August 2014

Happened upon this charming pub whilst on a shopping trip to Bath. It was so pretty with it's hanging baskets we decided to have a look at the menu and found it to be quite comprehensive. We went through a bar area towards the back and there was a room for eating or drinking with an open area for sitting outside. There was another room leading off which was very cosy and had a table spare so we chose to sit there. We were quickly served by a friendly waitress and I chose the traditional fish & chips and my daughter chose from the specials board. Our food arrived very well presented and was excellent. We stayed and had drinks then succumbed to the excellent dessert menu - all at reasonable prices. Would certainly return.

“Not a great start to our trip”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

We chose the Crystal Palace Pub on our first night out on a 2 week trip to England/Scotland. We had jet lag and it was not what the doctor ordered. I took a chance on a cask ale (knowing the difference between this and American beer). Thought I made a bad choice (in choosing an ale right out of the gate) until I had others on my trip. This beer was extra warm and extra flat when compared to others I tried the rest of the trip. We thought we would enjoy the wonderful outdoor seating. Again, bad choice for an American. Too many patrons smoking compared to what we are used to. Finally, our order got screwed up. Brought chicken instead of fish and chips. We were too tired to wait another 10 minutes for a fresh dish of fish and chips. Nobody offered to make amends other than apologize.

“Great location”
Reviewed 7 August 2014

We really liked it here. We only stopped here for a drink, but I looked at the menu & there seemed to be a good variety at reasonable prices. The staff are very friendly, the interior is quaint & there is a really nice courtyard out the back. The location is fabulous, so close to the abbey & Roman baths, but without the crowds.
