Reviewed 24 August 2013 via mobile

Where to start? We arrived extremely early, 5am, as we had to make an airport drop. Only night staff in but they opened the lounge for us and made us cup of tea. Our room was ready at 9 and we checked in early. The staff were knowledgeable about the area and we had a wonderful walk along the canal. We ate in Cloisters restaurant and the food was superb, our waiter, who was Romanian was wonderful, funny and chatty. The rooms were lovely, even had coffee machine. Just couldn't fault this place, highly recommended.

We stayed here on Wednesday 22nd August for 1 night. Check-in was quick and easy and both rooms were ready on our arrival. We were checked in by Kim who was efficient and knowledgable about the Bath area. Kim escorted us to our rooms and explained where everything was and how the air conditioning worked ( yes Air con in a British hotel) The hotel, as you know, has just completed a major renovation and as such the rooms and the corridors still smell of new carpets but the fresh paint smell had gone. The rooms were great, new and very clean. We only had B&B.
We had a few drinks in the bar after a busy day in Bath, the bar tender was great, fast and friendly
service. We had a conversation with him and got to know a lot about the hotel and the owner. He even got us some information on other hotels in the chain. Great service.
We had breakfast and it was ok, again the service was second to none but the sausages were not to my taste and we had to ask for fried eggs as the tray was empty but they filled it up on request.
Altogether a great Hotel and fantastic service, if you want a Hotel out of Bath city this is for you.
You can get a bus to the city center right outside the hotel, Number 13 and it cost £4.20 each for a return fare.We are going to stay here again, no question.............

Room Tip: none really we had two rooms and both were excellent.

We booked one night on a Saturday in August at the pre pay rate of £170, which was good for this time of year in Bath. Arrived early so ordered lunch which was a little long in arriving but good when it did. Taxi to the centre was about £8 and efficiently ordered for us. Very comfortable beds, clean room and everything worked, even an automatic light in the wardrobe! Our room was in the new extension and fairly standard contemporary which is what I expected having looked at the website. Staff all very eager to please and very helpful when I returned home to discover that I'd left my small handbag in the room. It was sent on to me and arrived on Tuesday. Thanks-we shall return.

Lovely location and convenient access to all the Bath sites. Room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was included with our room and was not very tasty. However, overall pleasant stay and would definitely return.

We had a 2 day break here, and could not have been looked after better. The attention to detail in all aspects of the hotel and customer care are superb. A short boat trip along the River Avon and you are in Bath. We will definatly be back, we may even indulge ourselves with the feature rooms or Mansion suites, although the executive room we were in was really love.ly, spacious and comfortable, as was the bathroom. Thank you for a wonderful break

Room Tip: We had room 123, very nice indeed

My husband and I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. We were greeted at a desk rather than queuing up at a counter as you do in most hotels. We were given a personal tour of the hotel... The library, restaurants, bar, and its many lounges. The hotel has undergone a major renovation. Our room was beautiful... comfortable beds, huge lounge chairs to read or watch television. A separate area replete with coffees and teas and a frig stocked with milk for your coffee and bottles of complimentary water. The bathrooms are large and well lit. We ate in both restaurants and the food was wonderful. The free breakfast buffet had everything you could want. You are greeted warmly at arriving and are thanked for coming upon leaving the restaurant.

In terms of location it is about a 7£ cab ride to center of Bath. Well worth it to stay in such beautiful surroundings and in such a welcoming atmosphere.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the gardens

I stayed here for one night in August. We booked the "Elegant Escapes" Package which we considered to be good value as it provided one nights accommodation, breakfast and a three course evening meal. The hotel has clearly just been refurbished and there are a few works going on around site, but this is mainly works in the gardens. We found the rooms to be well appointed, comfortable and very quiet. The rain shower is great (although there were some minor temperature fluctuations) and the blue light in the bathroom is a brilliant idea.
All the staff that we dealt with were friendly and welcoming - particularly the Maitre d' in the Lansdown restaurant and the Australian lady on reception.
The food in the Lansdown restaurant was very good and high quality. Service could not be faulted.
My only slight criticism is that the website should make clearer that there is the main building of Bailbrook House (traditional georgian building) and also Bailbrook Court which is a much newer extension to the building and houses most of the guest accommodation.
