“The unparalelled experience of love and care”
Reviewed 10 August 2013

A secluded detached country house B&B run by a cute senior couple (I assume, no offence), and their 12-year-old tabby cat named Amber. Breakfast cooked by the hosts comes with sterling silver and Wedgwood service, and there's a lovely courtyard enclosed by lilies looking upon a church trancept. Rooms are decorated with collectibles gathered from all over the world, and you can also find in the house library a wall of invitation cards and photos, some of which are 60 years old. Before our departure, we were given a very detailed introduction of the city's history and a well-planned itinerary was recommended too. Although England was suffering heat wave at the time of our stay so that it was a bit hard to fall asleep in a room without an air-conditioner (there was an electric fan though), the experience of love and care is unparalelled. Thank you so very much, David and Joe.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hollies. The hotel is themed with all bedrooms having their own well thought out style. The library is not to be missed and we counted some 50 painting adorning the entrance hall and staircase. The breakfast was superb, good old English with homemade jams and toast to finish with.A must is to view the dolls house and the attention to detail of the furniture in the individual rooms, which can be found in the breakfast room.

David and Joe were very helpful to we two "down under" travellers even lugging our very heavy bags up their narrow staircase to our bijou room. The decoration in every room is exquisite and every attention to detail for a guest comfort has been made. Take our advice and limit your luggage and get the bus down to Bath it is a good 30 minute walk. Joes breakfasts were beautifully cooked and David kindly led us in his car to the car wash which was a little off the beaten track. Two very interesting fellows, generous with their time and so interesting to chat to. A most interesting house to stay in, a story in every corner.

Room Tip: Ask for the largest they have, the rooms although beautifully decorated are not large. Overlooking th...

We stayed with Joe and David for 2 nights in July. We stayed in the India room, it was lovely. The whole house is beautifully and uniquely decorated. The walk into town is very easy, you don't need a car. Quiet residential neighborhood, beautiful and relaxing garden. Fabulous full breakfast! Friendly cat. Would definitely recommend. Joe and David could not have been nicer.

Room Tip: India room overlooks garden and church yard; it's very quiet.

We stayed for 3 nights in July 2013 and it was a real treat. It has to be said this place is not your average B&B and has many lovely and unique aspects. David and Joe were perfect hosts. The breakfast was excellent each morning and the garden lovely and relaxing in the evenings. We would not hesitate to recommend it!

We booked in for two nights and were made extremely welcome. The attentive two hosts and Amber, The Cat, went out of their way to ensure our stay was relaxed and comfortable. Breakfasts were delicious with extra effort given to ensure we had vegetarian food. Our stay was in the middle of a heatwave and every effort was made to ensure it did not interfere with sleeping. Our room was very clean, the garden was a delight and the food, mentioned before, was excellent. We unhesitatingly recommend The Hollies and its hosts. Thank you, David and Joe.

We stayed with Dave and Joe for one night earlier this month. The location is a bit away from the center of town and would be very difficult without a car. The room (Indian room) was lovely with many unique touches making it a memorable experience. The garden outside which is obviously a source of great pride had such a lovely fragrance I feel as if I am still there! The breakfast was hearty and well cooked. Their recommendations for dinner was spot-on as well.
