Just returned from a fabulous holiday aboard 'Topsy' with husband, daughter and Labrador!
All made to feel very welcome by Mark and Lynda who showed us around their beautiful, comfortable, spotlessly clean boat.
The boat is very easy to handle and with very little instruction, help through the first lock and the back up of some very helpfully detailed instruction manuals, we were able to enjoy and relax on our trip along the Kennet and Avon canal.
The beds were very comfortable and it was lovely to have the extra space that a widebeam narrowboat offers you.
Received some very envious glances from people peeking inside when moored up as 'Topsy' really is very beautiful and well appointed.
Mark and Lynda were exceptionally helpful and we were very sorry to have to hand the keys back to them at the end of the week!

We had a few days to spare and wanted a holiday with a difference. We had talked about narrow-boating in the past and decided to give it a go. We Googled and up popped Topsy. We rang and were soon talking to the lovely Lynda. We explained that we were looking around and that it was short notice, but could we hire today, this afternoon (a Monday) returning it on Thursday morning. No problem was the answer. We set off and when we got to Bath we were met by Lynda and Mark and they helped us load up our trolley and get our bags down to the boat. They made a huge fuss of our and made him feel very welcome too. We were a little apprehensive about the locks, but Lynda and Mark took us through the first few and before long we were handling it like pros thanks to their expert tuition. Thursday arrived all too soon, but we had a fabulous time. There were lots of thoughtful little touches that made this very special. We loved the quirky other boats along the river, and the beautiful riverside gardens of some of the properties. We also loved the "farm shop" at one of the swing bridges where you can exchange paperback books and buy fresh produce. We WILL come back sometime for sure.
A few weeks ago we had a lovely 2 night stay on beautiful Topsy. Because we had never driven a narrow boat before, we opted for a river cruise with the affable Mark at the helm. This was a really relaxing experience, sat at the bow with a glass of wine. Being so close to nature was very soothing. We even saw a kingfisher darting along the bank ahead of the boat.
The owners, Lynda and Mark, went out of their way to make out stay extremely comfortable. The boat is tastefully set up with absolutely everything you could need. The generous welcome pack was a really surprising bonus. The beds were so comfortable that we all slept better than we had for weeks.
The centre of Bath, with all its attractions, was a leisurely 40 minute walk along the river and canal. We didn't use the bike hire option, but plenty of people cycled past us and I estimate it would be a 10-15 minute journey by bike.
Lovely.
