“Loved it”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

Very friendly staff, quick service, very tasty good quality food and wine which is what we have come to expect from the Brown's chain. We sat outside on a hot day and enjoyed the shade of large umbrella and the nice breeze. Its near to the river and just far enough away from the hussle and bustle of the busy centre with a lovely view of a cathedral and old style shops.

“Delicious Starters”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

We ate here for our Wedding Anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The scallops were absolutely delicious - whomever cooks those knows what they're doing. We almost ordered another portion! We also had the avocado and crab which was very good and tasty. Mains were not a disappointment and we finished off with a generous cheese board. We were sat outside and able to enjoy a wonderful Summers evening and the Waitress was wonderfully attentive without being in the way. We are debating catching the train from where we live to come again one evening!!

“Lovely place a little way to go though.”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

We had booked a table for four and arrived early. Everything was great and we were served by a friendly waiter.

We ordered some drinks and then eventually got round to ordering food. There was no pressure form him for us to order. I ordered the pork belly and my wife the crab and king prawn linguine.

My pork belly arrived it was a good for lunch and tasty (to make it a dinner a side of chips should have been ordered). My wife's linguine had only a few prawns in it, just as many people here reviewing say.

We also had a dessert each and more drinks to make an afternoon of it. I had the Eton mess and it was AMAZING!! My wife had ice cream and she loved it too. We did have a nice time but I can see why people complain about the Linguine.

“Very Disappointing”
Reviewed 19 July 2014

Verdict: Brown's was supposed to be so much better than this.

Bad points:
1) Booked a table for 6 well in advance, but got two small tables next to each other.
2) One drink was in a dirty glass.
3) The main course took 50 minutes to arrive.
4) My £12 crab & king prawn linguine contained 6 small prawns, no sign of any crab and would have fitted on a saucer.
5) Coffee was served before the dessert had arrived.
6) In total we had to wait over two and a quarter hours between ordering and the arrival of dessert.
7) The toilet facilities badly needed a makeover (rusty soap dispensers - really?)

The waiter did apologise, but no reduction was offered. To avoid spoiling a special occassion I left it at that, but it was a very disappointing experience and we're unlikely to return.

“A quick bite to eat”
Reviewed 18 July 2014

Sat outside Browns to have something to eat. Ordered a sharing platter which consisted of tempura prawns, mustard and honey chicken, duck, chorizo sausage rolls (which must have been frozen) dips and bread along with a side of olives.

The olives were not great quality and were certainly not worth the £3. The sharing platter well what could I say. The chicken and duck were average, the prawns were fine. Chorizo sausage roll was ok. One dip was appalling and the other was really nice. On the whole very average mass produced food. The service was ok and they had run out of large bottles of sparkling water – so served two small instead at full price.

Occupies a great spot in Bath but to be honest its a place you would visit once and never return too. Expensive for the quality.
