“Lovely ambience, excellent food and service”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

I dined here with my parents whilst visiting them in April. We went on a Saturday evening and have had a few experiences at other establishments in Bath which have been spoilt by overcrowding and consequent poor service at this time of the week, when of course restaurants are at their busiest. No such problems here, and what a pleasant change that makes! Wood's was certainly busy but the atmosphere was perfect: a hum of enjoyment and staff friendly and helpful. The décor is traditional and, to my pleasant surprise as a racing fan, there is a distinct horse racing theme to the paintings and memorabilia. I don't know the history of Wood's but there must be a link there! Food was all excellent, we enjoyed three courses and could not fault any of them. For the quality, prices also seemed reasonable. We will definitely be returning, hopefully for a special family birthday meal in the autumn.

“Good food, great service and very reasonably priced”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

It has been several years since I visited Woods and although the decor and chairs are the same the menu has moved on and all 3 of us had a great time. From the all inclusive extras of bread and well cooked vegetables to the specials and the a la carte menu it's hard to find fault here. Friendly staff who were helpful, there if you needed them but not intrusive added to the experience. Whatever you choose to eat will be good, amongst others we sampled a salmon starter, mains of cod and perfect calfs liver, all delivered on seasoning, taste, flavours and presentation but make sure though that there is room for the desserts that are again well priced and scrumptious. A sensibly priced bottle of Prosecco and an excellent Sancerre just added to the occasion and I am sure we will be back again.

We had a lovely evening meal here with a bottle of wine. It's family run and very welcoming. Been around for over 30years so they're definitely doing something right! Nice quite location (no through traffic) so perfect for eating al fesco.

“35 years and still one of Baths finest”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

City of Bath Lions Club. we held our annual Presidents handover lunch at Woods this sunday 29th June. 2014. This long established restaurant is an absolute joy. we were about 22/24 in numbers and there no problem with" you will have to pre booked what you want." it was all off the menu and the food was excellent wonderful choices including a sunday roast of course. We were given a private room so the rest of the diners didn't have to suffer the few speeches and the whole experience can only be described perfect. The restaurant staff can't do enough for you service was spot on, no delays .The menu is innovative european and english. Try the Pan seared corn fed Chicken ,great, cooked with mixed herbs, garlic, cream cheese. sublime....
For the centre of Bath Woods is reasonable and merits top Billing.
