Description: The Bathwick Boatman is a tranquil slice of gastronomic heaven, located just 10 minutes stroll from Bath's city centre on the picture-perfect banks of the River Avon. Run by husband and wife restaurateur team Ben and Rosy Hall, the restaurant is set in an old rowing club with beautiful river views and a cosy, rustic ambience. After training in Italy and Spain, Ben worked in Miami before returning home to Britain, and his simple, seasonal menu is full of robust flavours and represents good old-fashioned value for money. The Bathwick Boatman has a divine summer terrace, and is perched just above Bath's historic boating station, where you can hire a punt or a rowing boat for a post-meal paddle.

“Tucked away gem”
Reviewed 18 August 2014 via mobile

Found a card advertising this little place at the B and B we were staying at on Saturday and decided to give it a try.

Wouldn't have found it on an off chance as it's tucked away where you wouldn't necessarily look but it's lovely.

Lovely balcony terrace which we didn't use as it was a bit chilly and tastefully decorated, particularly likes the old rowing boats with light on the ceiling.

The service was quick and we were well looked after without the waiters being to in your face.

I had a lovely fish course which was perfectly cooked and the bread and butter pudding was lovely.

“Lovely view, charming staff and the food was wonderful”
Reviewed 13 August 2014

What a very relaxed evening we had at the Bathwick Boatman watching the canoe groups drift down the river in random directions and then a lone swimmer. The restaurant was delightful and we sat on the balcony overlooking the river. Blankets were provided in case it got chilly but we had no need. We had a bottle of reasonably priced Prosseco and starters and then ordered a steak and a puy lentil hot pot. Both of them were delicious. Coffee was great but we were too full for dessert. Ollie our waiter was friendly, chatty and helpful. Highly recommended.

“Charming and a little bit different”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

Worth a walk out of Bath for. We went to this family run restaurant having seen a flyer and reading some good reviews here. Phoned and booked earlier in the day and was welcomed on arrival. Beautiful ambience to enjoy a dinner with excellent food and attentive service. Rosy spoke to us about her aniexty of good reviews on Tripadvisor meaing people may come with heightened expectations - she need not worry the whole team will live up to them!
