my husband and i stayed here for one night. firstly i would like to say it was a very clean freindly place to stay. i agree with some other comments. in that the noise from colin and amandas son arriving early hours was distracting. we had the room without ensuite and would not stay in that room again. as it is a shared bathroom with the family home albeit beautiful. i prefer not to tip toe into the bathroom. food was average in that my poached egg was over cooked and my toast was rock solid and cold. i did feel that i was in someones house rather than a bnb because of how the rooms are set out. parking isnt great as it is up their own drive. a fairly small room with too much crammed on the dresser to actually be able to use it for its.proper purpose. was ok for one night. nice people amanda is a little overpowering but kind. the other thing i did not like is that the breakfast room is one very large table for 8? which gives no privacy for you to sit and chat in the morning. overall cant fault on cleanliness but have stayed in far nicer bnbs for less money at this time of year probably would stay if in ensuite but for no longer than one night. would recommend to freinds but advise on booking ensuite only. close to all amenities and all within walking distance. thank you for fitting us in last min. bobbie and richard

We stayed here in August whilst visiting Cheddar Gourge. First of all this is different to the typical B&B you will find. When I first saw the pictures of it I thought "that looks like someones home". I then wondered if maybe it was a whole house which someone rented out. But no, it is actually someones home - The owners Amanda and Colin live here and rent out their spare rooms as B&B.

They are very friendly and welcoming, full of knowledge of the local area and recommendations as to what to see and do. We took their advice and walked to the local reservoir which was just a short walk down the road - it was really nice at sunset and we really enjoyed the walk. They also recommended local pubs & shops and can even book a local pub for an evening meal for you.

They are just a couple of minutes walk into the main areas where you can see the attractions etc.

The house is fairly modern and has been done out very well. The room we had came with a nice modern very clean en suite bathroom which was big and spacious. The room was a nice size. They use quality products in the bathroom - no scrimping here. The main "family" bathroom - which I assume the other rooms use was massive. Really big. It had probably one of the biggest baths ive seen, plus a walk in wetroom shower which looked great. Im not kidding when I say you could put a single bed in there and use it as bedroom. Incredible.

The breakfast was good - nice thick slices of bacon, eggs, sausages, beans, mushrooms... full english. Also tons of toast, cereal, fruit, coffee, tea etc... Just what you needed to fuel up for a days exploring.

The only reason I rate this as 4 instead of 5 was because of a few minor points. As this was a fairly modern house, there is none or very little sound proofing. So, you can hear people moving about in the rooms below or even hear people on the toilet etc. We could hear people talking in the rooms without even trying - which made us a little self concious. Secondly the room we had only had a double bed, which did seem quite small compared to the kings size bed we have at home. I know some readers will ask "well, what more do they want, its a double bed" - but if you are used to slightly bigger bed then it will be a problem. Im 6ft and my legs were hanging off the bottom. The room was a big room, and there is easily enough room for the owners to get a bigger bed in the future if they wish. Thirdly, there isnt a car park as such, you just park in their drive which can be a bit tight. Finally, for us, we found it a bit weird being given the keys to a complete strangers house! Had we been a bit light fingered we could have cleaned the house out! They were very trusting! My girlfriend commented that it felt a bit like being a teenager back at her parents home - sneaking upstairs and having to be quiet so noone could hear you!

Those very minor points aside - In summary, id definitely recommend this place to my friends. If you can get your head around actually being given the freedom of someones house, then its a great place. The hosts are the most friendliest ive come across, the cleanliness and presentation is top quality and the location is great. Definately Recommended!

As soon as we walked in we were made to feel at home. It felt like we had known Amanda for years! The accommodation was lovely - spacious, clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, with a full English, home made bread and jams. We only stayed one night, but wish we had booked to stay longer.

My boyfriend booked this b&b to take me away for my birthday. We have had bad experiences with b&b's and hotels before so i did not know what to expect. the house was lovely! the owner and her family made my partner and I feel very welcome. The room was by far one of the best rooms we have stayed in and the bathrooms were amazing!! the view out of the window of the gorge was stunning! just the thing you love to wake up in the morning and look out to. The owner kindly made reservations for us at a local pup the gardeners inn as we did not know any places around. it is about a 3 min walk and the food is amazing. As for the breckfast we recieved in the morning was by far the best cooked breckfast we have had! just a shame we could not finish it as we pigged out on toast before the breckfast come :) by far the best b&b we have stayed in and it made my birthday the best one ever!! thank you.... Sarah and gary :)

We stayed for 2 nights over a weekend on our way to Devon. It was the most amazing B&B we've ever stayed in.We felt more like we were visiting old friends rather than being paying guests. The owner Amanda couldn't do enough for us and the fact that we had the place to ourselves meant that everytime we met her it turned into a 20 minute chat which was lovely.I didn't get to meet Colin as he was away for the weekend on his stag night. It is located on a quiet side road but is only a couple of minutes walk from the village.I cannot recommend this place enough and the cooked breakfast was enormous!

Just returned from three nights celebrating our daughters 12th birthday. What a lovely, friendly, clean B & B. Amanda, Collin and their family made us feel very welcome and their knowledge of the local area really enhanced our stay. Lovely views, places to eat and little pubs and tea rooms within walking distance made this a fantastic location, as well as Cheddar Gorge and caves. We really felt relaxed and refreshed after our three days. The breakfast was just perfect, lovely to have local produce and was cooked so well. Nothing was too much for Amanda and Collin, they were lovely with our two daughters aged 9 & 12 and really made us feel welcome. Thank you and we will be back.
