“Good food”

Ate here in this tucked away little Pub - nice house red wine and good, reasonably priced menu. Quickly served and plenty of it.

“Good Beer ....Service with a smile non existant”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2014

Called for evening meal, ordered off the main menu two dishes which I was told were now not
available, re-ordered two further meals and once again told they were not available. No apology , no explanation offered. The staff seemed more intent on keeping the locals happy and not really interested in passers bye. Finally settled for the ploughmans which arrived promptly with a nice hot roll. The chips were frozen as were the onion rings which we ordered as an extra , tasted as if they had been cooked in old fat.All in all pretty dissapointing and very un-welcoming......would not return.

“Good hearty meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2014

Good food, good portions at reasonable prices. Not much of service to shout about. It's a traditional pub so you order and pay at the bar. No complaints and would recommend this place for a good hearty meal.

“Great local pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 June 2014 via mobile

Popped in for last minute meal on Sunday evening, as couldn't be bothered to cook on such a hot evening.
Sat in beer garden and had a fabulous Greek Salad. Was massive and loads of olives. My wife had a ploughman's with a generous slab of Draycott Blue and ham. All washed down with a cold glass of Thatchers Gold - perfect on a sunny evening.
Thanks Emily and team

“Hair in Salad!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 June 2014 via mobile

The picture on here looks quite good, nice red parasols etc.
It's nothing like that now, scruffy appearance and a dirty "white" cover in place of the parasols.

The salad had a long blonde hair in it, obviously that ruined the meal. The pub inside seemed run down, more of a drinking establishment than a food place I'd say.

The whitebait platter was very average, half of the whitebait batter was very dark in colour giving the impression that it had been re-fried. How else can you get two different colours of batter if it's all cooked at the same time? It also came with bread......why would anybody want dry bread? No butter in sight!

Cutlery was dirty - dry egg on my knife. I've not been to a place this bad since my student days!

Chips are cheap oven chips, I suppose you get what you pay for. Definitely won't be back, I'd recommend you avoid this one.
