“Good location needs more attention to detail!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2014

Stayed here because we fancied being out of Minehead and in a historic location.

Good points: location, car park, comfy bed, spacious room.
Not so good points: carpet in room (Avill) was very grubby, noise from traffic, sash windows took a real effort to close, sink taps loose, toilet flush very iffy.
Food was OK but felt it expensive for what it was, service at evening meal OK but very disorganised. Breakfast nice but service slow and not great. Shame because nice old hotel in heritage area, would go again but need reassuring that the problems fixed and service better organised .

Had a great meal last Saturday. Wide-ranging menu with lots of choice and everything what we and our friends had was lovely. Nice wines to choose from and good service too.

All in all an enjoyable evening. Thanks!

We were passing by on a Sunday and went in on a whim for Sunday lunch.
What a fantastic Sunday roast. The food is wonderfully fresh and very well cooked.
The staff are friendly and attentive. A real gem of a place.

We stayed here from Friday to monday. Made to feel welcome from the start. Staff excellent. Friendly, helpful, nothing to much bother. Hotel has own carpark which is always good. Food brilliant with great service. Would definitely stay again and recommend. Thank you for a brilliant weekend.

We were greeted with a warm welcome from the minute we set foot in the hotel.
The Management and staff were all so friendly, Jo & Grant the new managers along with the rest of the staff Mark and Zoe and some others i forget at the moment(sorry)
The food was brilliant from Kyle the master chef and his understudy Luke.
The rooms we were in were big and spacious.
Breakfast came with a wide choice which was very much appreciated.
The Hotel is set in a must see village with the most friendly of locals offering plenty of tips and advice.
Thank you for a pleasant weekend
Will visit again

It must be said we had a warm welcome upon arrival and the staff were rather chatty.

Our room was simply basic. The curtains broke, causing us to call for assistance at the wee hours of the morning. Bathroom was shabby and very little room to move around the bed. Not four star in my view.

Most of the other rooms had weird issues also. Avoid the stable/barn room, our friends froze.

Breakfast was good and this saved the day. As a man from the country this hotel was rather "funky".....

We wouldnt come again.
