We have stayed in quite a few cottages in our time and this has been the best. Beautiful garden. Lovely relaxing front room. Beautiful bedrooms. Bathroom was fantastic. And the shower!!! Best shower I've ever had. The kitchen was stocked very well. Everything you could need. And with a cake and dog biscuits on arrival we couldn't have asked for more.
This is a beautifully restored Grade II listed cottage with lots of character and charm, but all the modern fittings that make life easier than it was when such cottages were built! The main living area is fantastic with a large sitting and dining space warmed by a gas fire within a traditional inglenook fireplace. The kitchen has everything you could require (oven, stove top, microwave, dishwasher, combined washing machine/dryer, all manner of crockery) and the bathroom has a shower over bath. The upstairs bedrooms are both a good size and the larger has a hand basin within it.
One of the perks of this cottage is that the owners send a comprehensive list of everything in it ahead of time, and pretty much everything is in it! It made a big difference to have tablets for the dishwasher and washing machine, foil and cling wrap in the kitchen, tissues, soap, etc. We were welcomed by cake, eggs and milk, as well as fresh flowers. We also appreciated the extensive range of books, DVDs and board games.
The cottage is situated in the small village / hamlet of Alcombe, but it is an easy 30 minute walk to Minehead centre or less to the large supermarkets on the outskirts of the town. Public footpaths crisscross the surrounding countryside and offer stunning walks and views. Dunster Castle, National Trust managed woodland, the south-west coast path, and numerous attractive villages and coastal view points are within easy reach.
We stayed with a 7-month-old baby and the owners provided a Mothercare travel cot and highchair; the cottage worked well with a baby and would equally suit families with an older child or children if they could share a double bed.
There is also an attractive garden adjoining the cottage and whilst it was too cold to utilise fully on our March visit, it would offer a nice space for outdoor eating or barbecuing in the summer months (a barbecue and summer house are available).
This cottage has got to be THE best. It was like walking into a newly decorated and kitted out home from home. The bedrooms are luxurious and downstairs is the same. Annie & John are so friendly, you feel like you've known them for ages. We shall definitely be booking again.
This cottage is wonderful. Really cosy and full of everything you could need. Quality bed linen, towels and furnishings and the kitchen was really well stocked. My dog was really well catered for with bowls, biscuits, towels, bags etc and he loved the outside hot water tap! You wouldn't know dogs have stayed here before, the cottage was spotless & smelled like new. Great location and good walks 5 mins from the door.
The owners are really helpful and can't do enough for you, suggesting walks, places to eat etc. Thank you for the eggs, homemade cake and dog biscuits - all went down a treat! We will be back to stay for longer next time
This was a truly lovely cottage with everything you could need for your stay. It has been furnished and equipped to a very high standard. The garden was secure and we were able to let the dog run around happily by herself. You have country walks from your doorstep but are also within easy driving to some great Exmoor beauty spots. We had a fantastic break in a beautiful part of the country, enjoyed enormous pub meals and relaxed in a fabulous cottage. I would recommend it to anyone.
We have found our dream getaway, Annie & John have made this charming old cottage the perfect escape, it truly is beautiful here and they have every thing covered. The house is wonderfully equipped and has so many little extras that make it perfect.
The garden is also well thought out and our little dog loved it especially the little Robin who she met daily, we were even treated to visits by the deer. See you again in 2017 we will return to explore the many local walks and villages thanks again guys simon & mandy

Sorry it's taken me sooo long to write my review... Anyway, I was reminiscing about our fab stay here in Easter earlier this year. A truly exceptional cottage. Just amazing. We had a lovely relaxing stay. Thanks for the cake on arrival too!
It was like a home from home... Loved it.
