My friend and I stayed for three nights and we had a fantastic time.... nothing was too much trouble for Susie and Robert, and we shared a lot of fun and friendly 'banter'.... Robert had even cleared the garage so that we were able to park our motor bikes out of the rain and on the 'flat'.... breakfast was excellent and as already noted......, the beds are really comfortable.... Dunster town is only a couple of minutes walk away.........

Only one night in this B&B " par excellence", with a bed you do not want to get away from.We did not have more time, unfortunately. If you do go downstairs and enjoy the breakfast ( the whole klimbim is available and fresh AND very good) you don´t want to leave THAT.In fact , we think, nobody wants to leave this B&B, once you walk into it.Its the best we had since a long time. Wonderful views from the room.Very compatible price !!
Thank you Susie and Robert !

A delightful house in an excellent location.
Our en-suite room was very comfortable, well-equipped, and clean.
Robert and Susie were welcoming, obliging, and very cheerful hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed our two-night stay with them

Room Tip: he en-suite room is worth it, though the other two rooms share a bathroom that is very close to them

We spent one night at Butter Cross B&B at the beginning of a week's trip to Somerset, and absolutely LOVED it! We were with another couple, my brother and sister-in-law (there are two bedrooms, one en-suite, the other with a bathroom just across the hall) and were delighted with everything: the beds were VERY comfortable (always one of the most important points in my book;), the English breakfast delicious, and our super friendly hosts, Susie and Robert Buck, couldn't have been more welcoming! Their lovely home is located on the edge of the medieval village of Dunster - definitely one of the nicest villages in Somerset and well worth a full day's sightseeing in itself! It was close enough for us to walk into town for dinner ( a fabulous restaurant, Reeves! I'd rate it five-star too!).

Right behind the large garden is a field with sheep, and we were lucky to be there just as the farmer had his sheepdog herd them around! Our very own sheep-dog show! The weather was unfortunately a little drizzly, but had it not been so, we would certainly have sat outside on the terrace amidst all the beautiful flowers. The final touch to really make it a home away from home was the Buck's friendly black Lab! Would love to have stayed longer!

We booked in for a one night stay, as we were attending a wedding in the village. We had the whole hotel to ourselves as Suzie was away. The room was a large, double aspect with lovely views of the gardens and of Dunster Castle, beds were comfy, i wont mention the avacado onsuite! But all in all very clean.

Robert was a perfect host serving us breakfast in the garden, cereals, juice, tea, coffee, toast, fruit salad and a full english what more can you ask.

Prices attched to this site need an update as we paid £75 and that was a reduced rate from £80 but still worth every penny. Also to mention the large black lab who wonders around downstairs, which was not mentioned at the time of booking, my partner is allergic to pet hair, but he was soon locked away at breakfast time.

We booked one night at Buttercross as we were attending a wedding in the village. From initial contact and booking, to the stay itself, the whole experience was positive and pleasant, and we would strongly recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a quiet, tranquil base to explore the surrounding area. Susie and Robert Buck are excellent, charming hosts, friendly and welcoming, and their house is stylish, spacious and spotlessly clean.

We were too late to book one of the ensuite rooms, and so shared a bathroom and toilet (directly opposite us) with one other room. The room itself was spacious and airy, with a lovely view over the garden and towards the village. Situated on the edge of the village Buttercross is in a very quiet location, and yet is only yards away from the centre of the village and in particular the tithe barn, where the wedding was held. Breakfast was absolutely top-notch - best quality produce cooked to perfection, 'full english' as good as it gets!!
