Our first stop was the kids play area. Kids aged 9 and 6 found it great fun, simple but with challenging leaps between tree stumps. Also had a basic see saw which they could jump on and hurl each other in to the air.
Had a fantastic game of Pooh Sticks on a bridge nearby.
Fortified ourselves on some cake in the tea shop past the water mill. Very busy, as it was raining, but service was okay.
The castle was wonderful, the guides so friendly. There were a number of hands on exhibits, which the kids loved.
The highlight for me was the crypt. It wasn't as subterranean as I would have liked, but the ghostly surprise made me chuckle, and the kids suitably spooked.
