“Family event”

We were interested in castle because of family(albeit distant) ties.Little did we know how enjoyable the tour would be.The grounds were nirvana for my garden loving wife, and the tour of castle was superb on servants life perspective. In 30 years of european travel, this is easily in top 5 of castle tours we have done. Will be more geared to adults than children .

“Interesting visit.”

Went there for a couple of hours and really enjoyed it.The gardens are wonderful for walking through and the old working water mill still grinds its own flour, which we bought. The castle itself has a fascinating history and all-in-all was well worth the visit.

“really good family day out”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2014

We had a lovely time at the castle, the canyon and weapon displays were good. As was the victorian kitchen tour. This is a national trust castle and is extremely well kept and maintained. The gardens are lovely as are the views. The village is picturesque too. However, be aware there are not very many places to have a cheap (ssh) lunch!

“Sunday Trip Out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2014

Day trip out to Dunster Castle National Trust Property in my partners new car. Lovely day, really sunny too! Had a lovely walk through the property which is in very good order. Lunch by the old mill at the bottom of the property is the place to go. The gardens are lovely too.

“Beautiful castle and gardens in lovely surroundings.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2014

Owned by National Trust (Of which I am a member). Visited recently on route to North Devon. Very interesting inside castle with self-guided tour information cards for each room.Room guides also available as usual. Stunning gardens, though steep in places and uphill. Map issued at entrance indicates where inclines are for those wishing to avoid. Watermill was also open, just a short walk from main entrance. Tea gardens close to Mill but do get busy on warm days so limited seating inside and outside.
Dunster village with it's shops and Exmoor Park information centre, a short stroll away from castle grounds. Well worth a visit.
