Myself and 2 friends stayed for a night on Halloween. The owner was really helpful upon our arrival- arranging our taxi for us, he was friendly and made us feel welcome. Room was lovely- good value for the price for sure. I hadn’t mentioned I was vegetarian and they still catered for me with quorn sausages/breakfast which I ate a little later as I overslept for breakfast at 9- but it was nice to be catered for. Toilets clean, showers good. No complaints at all.

Read the "poor" reviews but can only say that this was not my experience
Room was big and spacious, clean and tidy with tea and coffee making facilities. The bed was large with fresh sheets and I had two great nights of sleep. Breakfast was fantastic. Well cooked, ample portions and kept me going well into the afternoon. The owner we met could not have been more helpful offering advise on what and where to go and see and where to eat locally.
Yes there was a language issues with one member of staff but this did not detract from the quality of our stay as there are always ways around language barriers.
This place is easy to find and just a short drive to either Wells or Glastonbury but without the Wells and Glastonbury B&B price tags. Had a very peaceful 2 days here exploring the surrounding area and magnificent views that Somerset offers.
I would use this B&B again as and when I go back to Somerset

We stayed at this B&B as we were attending the Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza and it seemed to be in a fair location. We were a party of three and had a party of 5 (plus 2 young children) staying in the other house who had arrived a day earlier.

The whole stay was problematic from beginning to end and ultimately we were glad we'd only booked for one night. Below are the main points of dissatisfaction;

- No one immediately present upon arrival. Knocked and waited for 10 minutes before anyone came to the door. When somebody did answer it was a lady who couldn't speak any English so was incredibly difficult to communicate with her. Lack of reception or greeting. When we were eventually shown around the house by a younger lady it was very rushed as she informed us she had somewhere else to be.

- State of rooms unacceptable. We booked 2 rooms at this property. One room had no bin, no mirror and upon inspection of the chest of drawers under the wardrobe found a collection of what looked like dirty underwear although we certainly weren't going to inspect any closer to confirm this. The other room, whilst very basic, was adequate but not very clean. It was clear to us the rooms hadn't been cleaned or checked with any amount of care after the previous guests.

- Bathroom. We were surprised to find a shared bathroom at the very end of the corridor. We didn't feel this had been explained very clearly when booking. Worse still, the bathroom was not at all equipped with the basic essentials you'd expect to find. No toilet roll, no hand soap, no towels. Just the bath, shower and sink. This made us question the hygiene standards. The young lady did assure us that she was going shopping and that it would be sorted for when we got back later that evening, but when we arrived back nothing had been done.

- Poor treatment of guests. On the Saturday night our group staying in the next house returned to find a very aggressive note pinned to the door written by the 'manager' Jeremy. This caused a terrible upset as the accusations being levelled at the group were unfounded and the tone of the letter aggressive and threatening. It left a sour taste after what had been a fantastic day and evening at the Abbey. This was compounded by his behaviour the next morning at breakfast as he walked around the kitchen swearing and ranting in earshot of guests. Understandably the rest of our party chose to leave first thing in the morning without attending breakfast.

A bad experience all round. It doesn't take much to please us but this B&B is so awfully run that I couldn't recommend it to anyone unless major improvements were made, but I don't honestly know where you'd start. Very disappointing.

One thing to note is that the young Romanian lady was trying her best. It was clear she had far too much on her plate to be able to cope on her own. She deserves credit for trying to make the best of a very bad setup.

See the review below - we were in the same house and had the same issue. On arrival we were shown around and told that we could use the kitchen and lounge. So we did but washed up after ourselves, stacked our pizza boxes neatly in a corner of the huge kitchen and put our bottles by the bin - the outside bins were overflowing so we had no other choice. And we didn't have bins in our rooms. Or handtowels, or televisions as promised...

We arrived back Saturday evening to a very aggressive note from the owner and after being initially livid as we had left the house clean and tidy, we were then concerned for our safety with two small children in our party. We weren't sure if the owner was going to come and knock the door down and shout at us for something else we hadn't done. The couple who he had been showing around said that he was "raging" and had "gone mental" at the mess. But there really wasn't any mess so we felt that he was incredibly unpredictable and not someone that we wanted to be around. As he smelt very strongly of alcohol when we arrived, we left as soon as we could on Sunday morning, even though we had paid for breakfast, as we just did not feel safe.

On top of all of this our friend, who had paid for a double room, was given a single bed in a box room and another couple who we did not know had paid for a deluxe ensuite room but ended up in a small double with a shared bathroom. The owner clearly does not like people actually staying in his properties but is more than happy to take your money. Just awful.

We arrived on the Friday afternoon for a two night stay to be greeted by a man who spent most of his time swearing and had absolutely no people skills at all. There was no communication between him and his partner as they attempted to take payment twice.

The accommodation had been overbooked so we were moved to the large annexe. The rooms had no wardrobes or cupboards so there was nowhere to put our clothes other than on the floor. The mirror in the bathroom was broken and there were still shards of broken glass on the bathroom floor.

We were advised that we could use the kitchen for drinks and the large lounge area. However on returning to the annexe on the Saturday night after Glastonbury Extravaganza, we found an extremely rude note taped to the door advising us that we could not use the fridge and lounge and all our belongings had been thrown into the hallway, including the contents of the kitchen bin that we had placed a bin bag in. There were no bins in the rooms and everyone staying there ensured that the place was kept as tidy as possible.

The attitudes of the owners was an absolute disgrace as all they wanted to do was argue their case rather than wanting to improve. I would never suggest anyone stay here.

Room Tip: I would not suggest that anyone choose a room here
