“THE OLD OAKS 5*”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 July 2011

We have just returned home from a 10 day stay at The Old Oaks Touring Park - Somerset.

Close your eyes and think of one of the nicest places you have visited in the UK, stop, open your eyes and turn to park no.18 in the Tranquill Touring Parks brouchure or page 12 in the Best Of British brouchure or Goggle Old Oaks Touring Park and you will find one of the most beautiful campsites in the UK.

Firstly, you are welcomed by very friendly staff, you are then shown to your extremley generous sized pitch, all which have beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.
The next thing you come across as you make the customary visit to inspect the toilet block, is a small blackboard displaying a selection of homemade cakes that can be purchased for that day - they are special non fattening cakes, so no excuses for those of you on a diet - well thats my excuse.

The site is ideally located for touring around Somerset, not to far from Weston - Super - Mare, Bath is an excellent day out and other numerous locations are close by for passing the time. Talking of passing the time, for some reason our 10 days in Somerset passed so quickly and we are returning next year for two weeks.

This is a must visit site when considering Somerset.

I am writing this sat outside my motor home on the old oaks touring park. The owners and staff definately go that extra mile, toilets are spotless lovely and warm and loads of hot water in the showers. The pitches are large and private grounds kept very clean the dog walks exceptional. Glastonbury is walkable and a taxi back if you need one after all the sight seeing is approx.£7.50 will we return of coarse highly recommend this site. The fact that its in a beautiful location is an added bonus and we love the sound from the birds especially the woodpeckers. wifi £3 for 24hours if your just having a short break excellent value I think .

We have a seasonal pitch at this site- Nov to March.First time caravanners we couldnt have done better. We chose the site because its adults only and isnt overcrowded. It has large pitches for a caravan, awning and 2 cars. Each pitch is screened with trees offering privacy-lovely well maintained peaceful setting with very friendly staff.Good washing facilities- warm and clean toilet blocks.
About a mile from the "Tor" and a pleasant 2 mile walk to Glastonbury with its individual shops. In Glastonbury is a variety of vegetarian places to eat and a lovely pub for good food and real ale- the "who'd of thought it"
If you want a relaxing break away from it all this is the one! Away from the rat race.

We have now been here five times; every time we go we thoroughly enjoy it. The family that own the site and all the people that work there are friendly and helpful. You are close to Glastonbury (a quaint shopping centre), Wells (has a beautiful Cathedral) and Street (a fantastic shopping centre). This visit we went to Bath, this is only 45minutes away (max) and had a great day out there.
On days that we stay on site it has many walks, the walk that I enjoy is up to the Tor, my dogs love that walk too, it has many beautiful sites from up there.

This place is first class and we have now been 6 times. This place is beautifully maintained and very peaceful. The facilities are the best we have ever seen on a campsite. The staff, Owners and managers are stars and work extremely hard to maintain the park to an extremely high standard

We have just returned from our 3rd stay at The Old Oaks and have already booked to go back next year. It is a lovely, peaceful, extremely well maintained site. Each pitch is separated from its neighbour giving you a wonderful feeling of privacy and seclusion. Others on this site have spoken of the local attractions but my husband and I have never made it beyond the camp itself, so cannot comment. It is so relaxing that we cannot find the energy to drag ourselves away from the deckchair and the papers. Papers which you don't even have to travel to buy as you can order them, along with fresh bread, from the onsite shop. A shop that is very well stocked. For us it is the little things at The Old Oaks that make a difference. They do not just provide a doggy walking area and doggy shower but hand wash is provided alongside the doggy waste bins. The sinks for washing dishes all have a plate drainer. There is a freezer for freezing ice pack and a microwave should you need to heat something. There are free hairdryers in the shower block and fabulous individual bathrooms. We often think we ought to try somewhere else but why when this site is perfection already.
