When I found this cottage for a 6th August stay, for the price we paid, I thought "There must be a catch!" But there wasn't. Theresa and Adrian were fantastic and the house was simply beautiful! An extremely clean and spacious house, with an enormous and fully enclosed garden, trampoline, play house and swing, meant we were left to just relax and let the kids roam around free! There are plenty of pubs nearby and the town is just a 15 minute drive, so location was also excellent. I cannot say enough about Walnut Cottage but we were all sad to leave this morning and would 100% return!

Wow, what a lovely place, didn't want to leave. Everything, and more, is provided at this cottage. Fabulous kitchen - probably better stocked than my own home regarding utensils etc. With a family of 5 it was so easy with everything we needed and, plenty of space. Lovely cosy living area, even a selection of books and dvds (for kids and grown-ups), and toys for younger children provided. 3 lovely size bedrooms with beds so comfy we didn't want to get up! Soft towels in the bathroom and shower room. The owners seem to have thought of everything - even bath toys and child's toilet seat. You really don't need to bring much. The real jewel for us was the garden. Huge, with seating area, bbq, trampoline and playhouse, we spent lots of our holiday in the garden-even in the rain! We didn't manage to find the local shop, but supermarkets are about 15 minute drive away in either Glastonbury or Street. The property is in a good location for exploring Somerset and the South West. ComparatIvely, this house is really good value for money. My family loved staying in this cottage and hope to visit again.

“A First Class Family Experience”

We stayed here for 7 nights. Myself, my wife and 2 children aged 5 and 10. It was simply perfect. Neither of us could think of anything about It that could be improved. The house was much bigger than the pictures indicated, and the garden is enormous, the kids played in it every day. The house was superbly well kept and clean, and warm. It was relatively nippy outside but we had no need of the log burner as the under floor heating kept it very cosy. The kitchen was the best equipped in all of the lodges and cottages we have stayed in, with utensils and equipment for any cooking mission you decide to embark on. There's a great collection of DVD's, games and Toys for both kids and adults. The owners were very friendly, although we had no need to bother them as everything ran perfectly smooth. Locationwise it is situated down a quiet country lane with no other properties around it except the owners. Secluded and private but close enough to civilisation also. It felt a good central point to visit Cheddar Gorge and Wookie Hole, and the seaside, and we filled 7 days with activities without any extended travel taking place. I can't recommend it enough.

“First Class Property In An Excellent Location”

I thought Somerset was one of those places which got in the way when driving to Devon or Cornwall but after spending 2 weeks at Walnut Cottage there is still plenty of places left to visit. The cottage is situated in a delightful rural environment with no through traffic and the peace is superb as it should be in the countryside. However the cottage is ideally situated to access all of Somerset without any hassle.
The cottage is clean, bright , spacious and well equipped and lived up to (high) expectations.

“Beautiful cottage, would definitely recommend”

Four friends and I stayed here for a week, and we didn't want to leave by the end! Every little thing had been thought of; there wasn't a single time where we thought "I wish there was a...".

The owners were extremely warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived, and had even included a little information pack which was left on the dining table. There was even Cluedo and Monopoly to keep us entertained of an evening!

The cottage itself was beautiful, surrounded by stunning Somerset countryside and in the distance, Glastonbury Tor.

Inside, the rooms were huge, plenty of space, all very nicely decorated. The beds were so comfy we didn't want to leave them in the mornings, and the showers were so nice we didn't want to get out of them, either!

All in all, a wonderful stay that didn't last long enough. But we will definitely be back!

“Words don't do this house justice.”

I'm not really sure what to say about this house. This is by far the most beautiful house I have ever rented. My family and I stayed for 4 nights in June. Located in a tiny village on an acre of land Walnut Cottage became the centerpiece of my vacation to England. I always knew that seeing all of the history contained in England would be rewarding. I just did not realize that the house I rented would be just as important to me. The inside of the house is incredibly comfortable and gorgeous. The view in the back yard is stunning. I sat for hours at night just listening to the birds and local animals. The owners, Adrian and Theresa, helped to make this a memorable vacation. They were extremely attentive while at the same time making us feel like we were totally isolated. They were awesome hosts.

The house is perfectly located for traveling to the numerous historical sights in Southern England. With this house as our base we travelled to Stonehenge, Salisbury, Wales, Glastonbury and much more. At the end of each day all of my family could not wait to get back to the cottage for a night of relaxation. I would highly recommend this house to anyone. If I am ever fortunate enough to travel to this part of England again I will definitely be staying at the Walnut Cottage. Actually, I would not even consider staying anywhere else.

“As lovely as it looks on the website... no wait - it's even better!”

Walnut Cottage is as lovely as it looks in the photos shown on the website. No, actually it's even better! This is one of those rare occasions where someone under promises and over delivers rather than the other way around..

Walnut Cottage is a really comfortable, well-equipped and peaceful place to stay for 4 adults and 2 children (I think they also have options to expand the numbers with baby bedding etc). The original stone cottage has been fully renovated to a very high standard. The country-style kitchen is fantastic with a large (and immaculately clean) range oven, butler's sink, lots of storage and it also has plenty of space to sit at the 8 seater dining table. The fully equipped laundry is a really helpful addition and the lounge is cosy and welcoming. Everything is of a high quality from the Portmeirion crockery in the kitchen to the plush and plentiful John Lewis towels in the bathrooms. The under floor heating keeps it at a very comfortable temperature and all the windows allow in lots of natural light and an opportunity to view the beautiful green gardens (with great play-time facilities for the little kids).

It is located within good distance of many great places to visit, we recommend the farmers market in Wells on a Wednesday and a walk in Ebbor Gorge (rather than touristy Cheddar Gorge).

The owners (who live next door) were so friendly and helpful from first to last contact - but also respected our privacy - so they were perfect hosts.

We fully recommend this cottage for a great place to relax in the beautiful county of Somerset.

Liked best: The perfect cleanliness and the quality of linen, crockery etc
Liked least: Honestly - I can't think of anything! Maybe a slightly stronger internet connection but that is largely out of the owner's control I'd guess.
