Description: Do you remember how good Fish & Chips used to taste? Well they still do - here! The same family has been serving Fish & Chips in this shop since 1909 - It is a Somerst Institution! AND you can have Wine, Beer or Cider with your Chips as they have a licence, AND you can sit down and eat it there in the shop, as its also a waited service restaurant! (booking highly advised for Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays!) We are probably the oldest established fish and chip restaurant in the UK that has remained in the family through out its existence, as well as being the oldest established business in Glastonbury. We have the finest quality cod, haddock and plaice available, delivered daily from British ports, not to mention tons of Cambridgeshire potatoes prepared on site throughtout the year. Apart from our takeaway section, we have a maximum seating capacity of 82, including 12 in our courtyard area. We are also noted for our home-made fish cakes prepared on the premises every day. For the carnivore, pork faggots which are made especially for us by a local butcher. We have sausages and a selection of pasties and pies by a renowned producer, and a selection of chicken choices - Stacking Burgers, Jacket Potatoes and various Meat free options. We have a massive Restaurant menu that has various best sellers, lighter meals, kids choices, sharers, starters and lots of extras! We have a drinks licence and offer a modest selection of favourite wines, draught and bottled beers and local ciders such as Wilkins farmhouse cider & Hecks farmhouse cider.

“Rip off. Don't let the Award Winners certificates fool you.”
Reviewed 19 January 2011

Walked in at 2000hrs. No other customers. A basic chip shop. Staff young and more interested in themselves than the customer. Ordered against better judgement Cod and Chips at £6.55p as I had been drawn in by the Award Winners signs. Partner had scampi. It arrived some 5 minutes later. Very, very small plates, very small cod and a few chips. No peas. Just small cod and chips. That's it for £6.55p. (To be fair the chips were tasty and that is the only nice thing I could say good about this place.) It was a rip off. No atmos. No table cloths. Just a basic chip shop who know how to charge for very little. Extremely disappointed and I left with a feeling of being laughed at.

“This is a Somerset Institution - The same family making great fish & chips since 1909 !!! AND its licensed”
Reviewed 22 November 2010

Remember how good Fish & Chips used to taste? Well, they still do - here. This family have been making and selling great fish & Chips from this shop in Glastonbury continuously since 1909 !! That's over 100 years of award winning continuity for you. AND it's not only counter service for take-away customers, but it's also a full waitress service restaurant, with a roaring log fire. Freshly made Fish & Chips you can eat in comfort. AND it is licensed, so you can have wine or beer with your Fish & Chips - it just doesn't get any better than that.
