We stayed for one night Oct 1st staff were pleasant and helpful.
Room was very good and clean. Food was excellent and fast staff polite and helpful. In the morning you had to be at breakfast before nine am it's an hotel and it should be up till 10.30am all week not just weekends. The breakfast was value as you had many choices including a full English again the staff were polite and helpful.
The down sides are you have to be out by 10am and breakfast to early also I know it's a old building but it needs a coat of paint and exterior work also checking out should be 11am as then all the shops are open then.

I can't help but think of what could be done with the George & Pilgrims' beautiful, ancient building and, unfortunately, the reality suffers a little by comparison. There was nothing particularly objectionable about our stay but nothing special either. Our room was clean and comfortable but reaked of air freshioner. Service at breakfast was friendly but the food was of indifferent quality (my kippers were so salty as to be virtually inedible). WiFi is available but runs at dial up speeds.

Perhaps it's unfair to measure the George & Pilgrims against any standard other than that expected from inexpensive pub lodgings, but surely more could be made of such an atmospheric building in the heart of Glastonbury?

I travelled to Cornwall this last week with my girlfriend and seen many beautiful places along the way..On the way home we booked into the George and Pilgrims hotel...Nothing prepared me for the events to follow...It was befitting of the surrounding area...Magical, enlightening, heart warming and such a wonderful experience...Everything about this wonderful place was a joy to have seen and visit...Every single member of Staff was professional and yet still retained the 'Closeness' that made you feel welcome...So much so that we booked an extra Knight ( Pardon the Pun!! )...I came back today having proposed to my Girlfriend and she said 'Yes'...A wonderful time and I have to mention also the Food...Truly wonderful and so glad we stayed...So much so that i am wanting to be married in these wonderful surroundings...A credit to you all at the George and Pilgrims...Lots of love from Chris and Ruth..

We have stayed at this charming hotel several times over the years. However, this hotel has been taken over by a chain and has hugely hiked up the prices - just don't think the prices are reasonable anymore. I think the owners have made a great mistake. We will not stay at these prices.

I can only comment on the food and drinks, as I've never stayed here, but I thoroughly enjoyed a lunchtime meal at the George & Pilgrim, when my wife and I visited Glastonbury. The bar provided a good range of ales and ciders. Our food was quickly prepared, piping hot and delicious. The service was excellent. The setting is fascinating - with a lot of history available about the pub. It was great to eat a good value meal in a historic setting, with the ability also to 'people-watch' through the lovely, old windows. I'd definitely go back again.

This is an inexpensive inn loaded with history and located right in the centre of things. If you're there for the tea and milk you're booked in the wrong place and should expect to pay more! My single room was good value. Comfy bed, quiet (at the back of the hotel) and a walk in shower that worked quite well for a medieval hotel! The pub meals are wholesome and the staff friendly. Cooked breakfast was quite OK too. It is 1 minute walk to Glastonbury Abbey entrance. The street has lots of choices for eating and interesting little shops.

Parking is a bit of a trick. You need to find your way around to the large public car park behind the hotel/main road. If you are lucky you can get one of three free hotel parks, but the public parking cost is not that much. Add about £5 a day to you hotel costs. I still think it was really good value and as an older solo traveller it had a good feel. I've rated it bearing in mind the low cost. It is not a modern, multi star hotel chain.

Room Tip: If you want a walk in shower rather than over bath I suggest you ask as this seemed to vary from roo...

Fantastic location, interesting historic hotel, reasonable priced food, friendly staff, titally let down by management, On arrival we had a tea each from the tray, but only 2 teabag & milk cartons provided, went to reception to ask for 2 more, and wead refused, apparently manager does not provide extras "as people would take advantage"? There were other examples of petty restrictions, which spolit our stay, which was a great pity, as in other repsects it was a great place to stay, and Glastonbury was a fabulous town to visit.
