Had a great time at the Covenstead in Glastonbury this weekend. Beautiful room, brilliant food and Adele is a fabulous host. Lots of laughter and interesting things to see. The Covenstead is so convenient for all the shops, cafes and places to visit. This is the best place we have stayed in Glastonbury and I can't wait to go again we had a great time. Helen.

This was our first time at the Covenstead. Most warm and welcoming stay thanks to Adele the owner, we had a wonderful dark wood 4 posters bed with black velvet chaise long, gothic miroir and throne (we were permited to have a peek at all the other ones before we left and they are all just as beautiful all in their own unique style).
As well as amazing furniture it is all in the details, the walls are full of my favourite artists (pre-Raphaelites, Klimt , Botticelli…) fab painted murals and every sort of magic collectables and memorabilias. The place is like a little museum of witchcraft, I could have spent hours just been shown around it all, browsing the ornaments and bookshelves. The B&B also has a little living room/kitchen, dining room and temple.
The dining room alone would be my dream party room with amazing gothic chairs and being Halloween we even had Miss Haversham and her wedding cake sharing breakfast with us.
The breakfast in itself was the yummiest I have had…from fab fruit salad full of fresh berries, mangos and strawberries, to full English and hot croissants.
Some lovely personal touches like a Halloween card and box of chocolate in the room on arrival. As we were staying the weekend before halloween… the entry way was an Halloween festival by itself and I think pretty much each time we went by we either played or posed with a different props…creepy rocking chairs, zombie babies with turning heads, red eyes creatures and coffins.
The room was also massive with a big bathtub and the location is just so central , just opposite the abbey.
In many ways I want to tell everyone about it and many ways I want to keep it a secret as I want to stay there again and again.

Our 2nd visit, this time to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary and Samhain. As always Adele is a wonderful host, the standards within the Covenstead are second to none, the rooms as luxurious and comfortable as always, the welcome is warm and genuine, Adele is more of a friend that just happens to run the Covenstead rather than the typical Landlady. Breakfasts are awesome, as is the decor, this time we experienced the Halloween decorations, absolutely fabulous, 200 trick or treaters were welcomed in and given sweets aplenty, while the adults enjoyed good conversation and getting to know each other. A fabulous stay, we are already booked for Beltane, and may well be back before then!

Of course, this B&B has already been described here by man others, with all the available superlatives. We had such a good time, it's a brilliant idea and of course all the stops (including eyeballs, coffins and cobwebs) were pulled out for our visit, which was actually on Halloween, 31 October. But it's Adele Clough's personality that really defines this B&B. She is a good example of the small business tenet: Be Your Own Brand. Comfortable, affordable, great food, she was friendly and attentive, relaxed atmosphere, fantastic location, and the pagan and gothic stuff is really fun, there's loads of it too, the Covenstead is stuffed with quirky and interesting trompes l'oeil from floor to ceiling, yet still manages to be clean and warm. We'll be back.

Room Tip: All the rooms are very individually themed but there are pix on the website so choosing a room is especially fun for the Covenstead.

The Covenstead fits perfectly with the mystical feel of Glastonbury, with hand-picked furniture, beds and decor in every room offering a truly unique and comfortable stay. Adele welcomes her guests warmly and the breakfasts in the wonderful dining room (jam-packed with curios like the rest of The Covenstead) are huge and delicious. I thoroughly recommend it.

Room Tip: The Halloween Honeymoon room is fabulous with hand-painted furniture and a luxurious four poster bed with lovely black velvet bedcover. The en-suite bathroom is clean and light.
