“The perfect B&B”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2011

A lovely family home turned into the ideal B&B by David and Judith West who give a warm welcome and take care of guests perfectly. I had a lovely quiet room overlooking the surrounding beautiful countryside, fantastic Mumbled eggs (scrambled eggs and smoked salmong) for breakfast - other options catering for all tastes, and use of a living room with pc if wanted. Great value for money and I will definitely be back.

" Simply The BEST"
My wife and i Denette & Paul France have been staying here for the last 10 years coming to the Glastonbury Symposium and exploring the regions CROP Circles etc. The hosts are now friends and do the Best Breakfasts we have had in over 30 yrs of staying around the UK and Lake District. The views, gardens & summer house provide a great area to relax and recharge.
The rooms are very comfortable and relaxing (stayed in all) with great facilities. All in All GREAT time had by all Everytime..... THANKS to David & Judith Fantasic Hosts and friends. Paul

Room Tip: Book 1 year before you go. As they are booked up each year by returning guests before they leave.

Lovely location with charming rooms and fascilities. Excellent bed and breakfast. Fields to walk across with cows and sheep. A lovely garden and beautiful dogs. Glastonbury can be seen from the hill and it is only a short walk to the centre. Must be the best B&B around. Judith and David are really taking care of you!

Every time we have visited Wearyall Hill House we have always been struck by the sheer quality and attention to detail given to us by David and Judith. Whether it is the individually tasteful rooms, the fine decor and soft furnishings, or the warmth and enthusiasm of the hosts, you always feel comfortable and at ease with the place. Indeed you get the impression that you are accessing some friends' home rather than staying in a Guest House. The location too, is quite spectacular. Whenever we are in the area, it would always be our first choice for a base. It offers great value and we would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

I hate to give a b&b full marks throughout, and I very rarely do, but I really can't fault Wearyall Hill House on any level.

The proprietors were very friendly and helpful, recommending local restaurants and places of interest, and showing us around their beautiful old house. They have two very friendly Labradors too, but if you're not keen on dogs you needn't worry, as they're kept away from guests for the most part - we'd actually asked to meet them!

The room was clean, tidy and very attractive (we got the room with the four poster bed) and the en suite bathroom was equally spotless. Fresh clean towels and bathrobes were provided, as was shower gel, soap etc and tea/coffee facilities, and satellite TV for news junkies. There was even a small fridge, to chill the champagne I'd brought (it was my partner's birthday!), and wine glasses.

The bed was very comfortable indeed, a point worth making for anybody who requires sleeping comfort for health reasons, and outside noise was very low - limited mainly to the sounds of sheep and cattle discussing whatever it is cows and sheep discuss in the field outside - and it was all I could do to rouse myself in time for breakfast. And indeed, on that note, the breakfasts were fantastic. I had the veggie breakfast which consisted of sauteed mushrooms and egg on toast, with beans and parsley and trimmings, plus cereal, toast, yoghurt, juice, fruit and - joy of joys - a large cafetiere full of proper coffee, all served around a large communal table in the company of other guests. You won't go hungry for either sustenance or conversation, and there is also a common room for reading, and with a computer with internet available to use.

It is a well-situated b&b, right on top of Wearyall Hill itself. A gate from the driveway leads directly into the farm field, and from there it is a leisurely fifteen minute stroll over the top of the hill, past the Thorn (currently looking rather forlorn after being vandalised late last year) and down into the town. Late drinkers will thoroughly enjoy this walk at night after the pub closes, when the quiet walker will spot all sorts of nocturnal animals, as well as the sheep and cows and the occasional friendly hippy meditating in the moonlight. Helpfully, a torch is provided in the room - do take this with you if you intend to return after dark, as the livestock are, naturally, prone to leaving little 'gifts' all over the hilltop. This distance from the main town is a real asset for anyone who wants a bit of seclusion, but still easily close enough to be convenient. The Tor - of which you get a fantastic view of from Wearyall Hill - is probably a good 30-40 minutes' brisk walk away.

Wearyall Hill House is a wonderful place to stay; attractive, clean, extremely hospitable (my partner came down to breakfast to find a box of chocolates and a birthday card from the owners) and very good value indeed. In fact, that needs reiterating - the rates here are fantastic, considering the high quality of this establishment. We will be recommending this place as much as possible to friends and family, and will certainly return before too long. Judith and David, if you're reading, thank you very much indeed for helping to make my partner's birthday so enjoyable. And please pass our regards to the dogs as well!

Room Tip: Romantic's choice - the four poster room.
