We stayed for one night and had a room at the front with a fabulous view of the cathedral.
The room itself was good, nice modern décor, lovely big bed and a bath and shower.
We really have no complaints, the staff on the whole were friendly ( a few not so) and they even have a resident cat who is adorable.
We had a dinner B&B package but the dinner menu was fairly disappointing although the A La Carte menu looked very appetizing indeed.
The hotel is right in the centre of the city so some noise is to be expected, people leaving pubs late at night etc.
We would be more than happy to return for another stay.

Room Tip: If you want a real treat go for a cathedral view room.

Disappointed with our overall experience with this hotel. I would be thinking twice before making a booking here although the staff are very good, we had to ask to change room, were disappointed with the dinner menu. On the plus side the breakfast was superb.

Booked a one night stay at this coaching inn, as travelling home from business down south, and wished we could have stayed longer. Hotel is right in the heart of the city centre, easy to find but, you must follow signs for hotels/deliveries on a one way system, and on approach look for the archway just passed the front entrance and turn sharp right as it is a very tight turn if you have a large vehicle.
A very narrow but ok driveway between the buildings brings you to a small car park. Entrance from back straight into reception where a warm welcome awaits you. Bar and resturant all lead off from this area and is popular with the public as it's well known for it's hospitality and very, very good food. Our room was clean, comfortable, and on leaving we asked to look at a suite we were shown the Cathedral Suite and WOW! Anybody with a special occasion book this room, it overlooks the cathedral. Try and stay when market is on, local farmers produce looks good.
Must just say that nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff. Reception very knowledgeable of the local area, service in the bar and resturant is very good, however, our only negative is that some of the bar prices we think are very pricey, but all in all, can't wait to return and will stay for a lot longer next time.

Room Tip: Pay extra and upgrade to cathedral view room or get a deal in the back part of the coaching house

Stated between Christmas and new year for a course of nights. On arrival asked if we could upgrade was told this would cost £100 per day more looked at the room and took it as it was a lovely 4 poster over looking the cathedral. As it happened the heating had broken. The receptionist swiftly moved us next door, slightly smaller and reduced the rate back to the original price. Really well dealt with.

We had dimmer included.

Food was excellent, really couldn't fault it and the service awesome.

My 3 girlfriends and I love Wells on Market day and decided to spoil ourselves in between Christmas shopping with Christmas Lunch at The Swan.On arrival we immediately felt 'Christmassy' seeing the hotel's stunning illuminated Reindeer display with Wells Cathedral as its backdrop...it really set the tone. The staff were friendly and professional and the food excellent...we all had Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, starters, pudding and coffee. It was delicious and well priced. The tables were elegant with crisp white linen and beautiful glassware and we all felt really spoilt. The only problem was having to leave and do some more shopping, and for 4 ladies to think that,it must have been good

We celebrated our wedding anniversary on a lunchtime in December at The Swan's 15c AD restaurant with another couple. On arrival at the hotel we chose to have drinks in the lounge overlooking the cathedral. Our only regret was that the log fire wasn't going, probably because the hotel was very warm. Our waitress was lovely. She brought the menus over, we chose and she said she'd let us know when our table was ready. Such lovely manners, a refreshing change.

Our drinks were taken into the restaurant for us, always a nice touch but rarely happens these days. Our meal was excellent. The chefs are incredibly good in this establishment. The presentation of our food was first-class, as was our wine.

The staff didn't know it was our anniversary until our friend let it slip. To our surprise, our deserts arrived lit with candles, which was a very nice and unexpected touch.

We used to live in Wells and were frequent visitors to this hotel for food. It never fails to disappoint which is why we chose it for our special day.

Mark and his team are to be congratulated. It certainly won't be our last visit!
