The whole team at this hotel work SO hard to make your stay just perfect.Nothing is too much trouble. They are to be congratulated!
The location is unbeatable, central for walking round Wells (there's LOTS to see).Plus parking.
Also a great centre for touring. If you have never visited Wells you must! Its a gem. Street market on Saturday. Lovely shops. The Cathedral and the Bishops Palace an easy stroll away.
Back to the Swan and a fantastic evening meal with a very good wine list. They also do a wonderful English breakfast .Nice decor, tea and coffee making in the room comfy beds, soft towels and a power shower in the bath.
Absolutely great for a weekend away.

This hotel is a story of two halves, the location is really perfect, almost opposite the Cathedral, the reception staff were very helpful and the chef was very good. We also had an amazing value price with bed, breakfast and dinner included. On the other hand, service in the restaurant was slightly 80's Fawlty Towers and they had run out of the best starter and only meat main (we were allowed to order off the a la carte though included within the price because there was nothing available). All could be forgiven as the price was so good even the large leak in the shower as these things happen but the quality of the mattress was poor to the extreme and this just wrecks any sort of decent night's sleep which is a real shame. Swan Hotel, please get new mattresses and we will definitely be back. We stayed in a nice double room with super king bed and lime green and black decor.

Had a lovely weekend in Wells staying at the Swan Hotel. We booked 2 nights at £99 per night to include dinner and thought we would probably have the most basic room for that price. I expected an old fashioned hotel from the photos of the exterior but was in for a very pleasant surprise. Was really pleased right from the start from the telephone booking with Lee, who was really helpful.

We arrived early and found plenty of room in the car park. The reception area was very modern with a lovely lounge area and bar with magnificent views of the cathedral. We were allocated room 4, on the ground floor, which had recently been refurbished. Although it was slightly small with no view it was more than adequate and very clean. It was very comfortable with wifi in all areas, newspapers in the lounge and logs fire which made it extremely relaxing.

The dinner was fantastic. A varied choice of three courses but you can choose from the A LaCarte for a very small supplement. The food was presented and cooked beautifully, tasted superb with excellent service. The breakfast was also excellent with plenty of choice - even boiled egg and soldiers.

We had such a lovely time we are planning to return again. All the staff were very helpful and friendly and all areas were very clean.

Our only problem was that due to it being an old building it suffered with creaky floorboards. This isn't normally a problem but the person in the room above us had little disregard for other guests and walked around continually and heavily and then got up at 6.30 in the morning and continued to bang around. Fortunately they were leaving the next morning and when we mentioned it at Reception the manager said the room would remain vacant to ensure we wouldn't be disturbed at all. I'm sure that noise isn't usually a problem with this room, and no fault of the hotel - we were just unlucky with the people above.

Thank you to Mark and staff for a lovely weekend, we will definitely be back.

We regularly visit The Swan, sometimes we will pop in for a coffee or lunch, we even stayed in the Cathedral Suite for our wedding anniversary a couple of years ago. On each occasion, we are greeted by friendly professional staff who go out of their way to ensure our every need is catered for. They even have a resident cat now who was in the lounge on our last visit. Well worth a visit.

Booked this hotel for a visit to the city of wells.

The hotel is very well maintained and clean. Ample parking round the back of the hotel.
Staff were very nice and friendly. Booking in early wasn't a problem as the room was already available.

Room was very nice indeed. Bathroom was very clean and the bed was very comfortable.

Didn't have food in the hotel as we ate out, but looking at the menu, it appeared a good choice of food with 24 hour room service.

All in all, a good visit, made better by having no problems with the hotel at all.

Would come back again

My wife and I stayed at the Swan for two nights last weekend.I was able to take advantage of their special weekend offer of £99 per night for dinner, bed and breakfast. Our room was no.54 on the ground floor in the coach house at the rear of the hotel .We were given that room as my wife had recently undergone a knee operation and found stairs difficult. The room was of a reasonable size with a sizable bathroom .The room was very clean with and well decorated. The only downside was that the furnishings were dark which made the room rather gloomy due to just one fairly small window allowing light in.
The food be it dinner or breakfast was very well cooked and presented .There was a set menu with a number of choices as part of our package , but we could also choose from the ala carte menu for a small supliment.
The best thing about this hotel is its staff. They were all smart and professional and helpful. For them nothing was too much trouble.
We will definitely be returning .

We are just back from an overnight stay in the luxurious Cathedral Suite of the Swan Hotel, and really enjoyed our visit. The staff were welcoming, helpful and efficient. The suite itself was even larger than we had expected and beautifully furnished with everything you could wish for to feel pampered and relaxed. The little city of Wells is charming, with plenty to see and do, and we would definitely return here.
