This is a fine hotel with very helpful staff. I was there on business so I can't comment on value for money because I actually don't know how much it cost! Beds very comfortable and of course, one could hear a pin drop in Wells at night so no problem with noise. Very clean and facing the magnificent cathedral. Lovely rooms with nice breakfast. For the latter I recommend the haddock! Porter also very accommodating in supplying drinks after hours.

Room Tip: I was in room 34. Fine for me but I suppose the best are those facing the cathedral.

We got caught up in the French air traffic control strike and our flight out of Bristol was cancelled. Easyjet put us up in The Swan the staff did everything possible to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We had beer and sandwiches outside overlooking the Cathedral and then had a short sleep in a beautiful room. Taxi at 4am spoiled the effect but we will be back.

We just ate lunch at the swan and although it's a lovely hotel with a lovely location it's very overpriced for lunch time food. Chips were just frozen and a very small portion for 3.25. And the ploughmans left a lot to be desired. The beef for the sandwiches is served cold too which was a shame. Can't fault the look of the place and I'm sure the rooms etc are lovely but we certainly won't be eating lunch here again.... Off now to get ice cream!

Stayed here for a couple of nights whilst seeing friends locally. Beautifully located in the centre of this breathtakingly pretty and historic tiny city, within easy walking distance of everything you expect to see. We had one of the four poster rooms on the top floor. Warning - it's the climb from heck up those stairs. There's also no air conditioning, so rooms at the top get very hot in summer. Another warning - the car park entrance. OK, we have a Land Rover which isn't a very parkable thing at the best of times. But oh my word, that is the most exciting car park entrance we've ever encountered. If you are the slightest bit worried about driving through narrow gateways and round boggling bends under a hotel, park in a public car park elsewhere. We met someone coming the other way, half way round this obstacle course, and had a very, er, interesting bit of reversing to do. Staff friendly. Perhaps they need to re-think the waiter service to the outdoor courtyard, though. There's nothing to say you have to order your drinks etc indoors first, and then they bring them to you. So we sat there for some time with staff walking round us, seemingly ignoring us. Even giving us a hint would have been handy. A small thing, but sometimes it's the small things that are easiest to solve. Breakfasts plentiful and lovely. And the view over the Cathedral was enough to bring tears of joy to the eye. Would we stay here again? Yes.

The hotel is in an excellent position in the centre of Wells, with wonderful unobstructed views of the Cathedral. Access to this, The Bishop's Palace and Gardens and the town itself is on 'the doorstep' of the hotel.

There is car parking at the hotel, which can also be a centre from which to explore surrounding areas.

Our bedroom was well equipped and comfortable.

The staff are very helpful, and the food was excellent.

We hope to return.

My Wife & I stayed at the Swan Hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary & was a little dubious to start with simply because the photographs of the Hotel on-line don't look that great. I have to say that the photo's do not do the place justice. On arrival, you enter the grounds by driving through a covered alleyway into the car park which is at the rear of the building. On entering the Hotel we were surprised at the pleasant & calming atmosphere at the reception. The staff were very welcoming & willing to answer any questions. We were shown to our room, which was exceptionally clean & had the biggest bed I had ever seen. We had booked for a Half board stay which included Breakfast & evening meal. We had considered just bed & Breakfast but i'm very pleased we chose the first option. The food was absolutely outstanding & there was plenty of it. The restaurant staff were also very pleasant & helpful in every way, nothing was too much trouble for them. I should say that about all the staff really as they really did make our stay very comfortable indeed. After dinner there was nothing better than having a drink from the bar & standing in the lounge looking out of the window directly at the very impressive front of Wells Cathedral. If you stay at the Swan hotel, you have within reach, lots of the best attractions Somerset can offer such as Glastonbury, Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, Bath & Wells Cathedral itself which is well worth a visit. Overall had a wonderful time at the Best Western Swan Hotel & would love to return for a special occasion in the future. Thank you to all the Staff.
