“Fabulous little gem”
Reviewed 14 July 2014 via mobile

I stayed here with my husband on our 12th July for our anniversary weekend. We stayed in room 3. Check in was quick and easy and all staff seemed polite and helpful.
Our room was very spacious and full of charm, the bed was so comfy. We overlooked the market square and didnt find any problem with the noise and even slept with the windows open. We ate our evening meal in Antons Bistro, highly recommended! This perfect little gem was fabulous and I cant wait to return.

This was our first visit to Wells, what a lovely city, the market it well worth a look round. We stayed 3 nights from 1st July. Our room was lovely, nice touches like chocolates on arrival and bottled water as well as the usual tea and coffee. Loved the teddy on the bed and rubber duck in the bathroom. We were in room 14 overlooking the market place and knew that the market was the next day so thought the earplugs provided would come in handy but the bed was so comfy that we didn't stir. Good breakfast cooked to order even the toast (I hate the DIY toasters a lot of hotels go for). We also ate in the bar and restaurant and the food was excellent. Our only niggle was that the throw on the bed looked grubby, we mentioned it on leaving and were assured that it would be dealt with. Really enjoyed our stay and will definitely go back.

We have had a number of meals at the Crown and always found the staff polite and efficient. The food was excellent and complimented by a great wine list. We ended up in the bar and were surprised by the great range of gins on offer. Will certainly be back there again!

We were not staying at the hotel but enjoyed the early bird menu here 2 days in a row in the restaurant. It was an excellent find and the meals perfect. I guess the fantastic friendly people we found during our stay are enjoying their wonderful city! The staff were attentive and efficient. We loved the table water bottles so much we bought one to take home. Do eat here even if you are not staying - it is a lovely experience.

The Crown is situated in the perfect location to see Wells. Smack bang in the middle of the market.

(We parked in the hotel's spaces - the following morning was market day which meant we had to drive through the market... that was a bit odd!)

Fans of Hot Fuzz will get a buzz from standing in the footsteps of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. The hotel was kind enough to swap our room. The first option was a little claustrophobic - the alternative was on the money

The room was well equipped and everything worked. One minor quibble: no soap option in the bathroom. I'm not a big fan of gels.

The hotel is great value for money, friendly, and breakfast was good. We also ate at the hotel and the food was good. Exceptional location - good hotel. (lots of 'good')

Happy punters - we would return should we visit Wells again...

Room Tip: Well... some of the rooms are above the hotel bar. If you're a light sleeper - ask for a room aw...

Just back from an amazing weekend in Wells meeting up with some great friends, all of us staying at The Crown. The hotel was comfortable, the rooms had some lovely touches, complimentary tea and coffee, biscuits and chocolates, bottled water. Each room had it's own character and I can particularly recommend room 7. There is some noise as the market was set up early on Saturday morning but we knew this and we weren't unduly disturbed! And didn't feel the need to use the earplugs provided.during the weekend we ate both in the bar and in Antons bistrot and couldn't fault the food. We all agreed the prices were reasonable. Each morning we looked forward to breakfast where there was a wide choice of cereals and fruit and every type of cooked breakfast imaginable. All was well cooked and presented. The hotel is very well located being close to ll shops and attractions (there is loads to see and do in Wells for a weekend break) so we didn't need to use our cars at all for the duration of our stay. Thank you for a fantastic weekend...and the weather was brilliant too! I am sure we will be back.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper avoid market days.

I stayed in The Crown for a night whilst away on business. I was greeted at reception, and immediately was upgraded to a family room with four-poster.
The room itself was nice, clean and a good size. Everything that I needed was there, and the free WiFi is a definite plus whilst on business.
The bar had a good range of drinks on draught, and the food was of a really high standard.
After a great nights sleep, morning saw a huge cooked breakfast, and a friendly goodbye.
All-in-all, a really good place to stay, and one which I'll be going back to.
